We're thrilled to announce that Scott Shipley, our #Whitewater Division Manager, will be a featured presenter at The Paddle Sports Show in Strasbourg, France (September 24-26). Scott’s session, "Making Whitewater Parks Fun: Creating Whitewater Venues That Cater to More Than Just Slalom Racing," will deliver perspectives on the leading-edge strategies driving the development of whitewater venues and outdoor adventure spaces. Scott will delve into the evolution of whitewater parks, highlighting how these venues have grown beyond just supporting Olympic-level #slalom racing to become versatile destinations for a wide range of user groups. Using the acclaimed US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte, NC (which he designed) as a basis for comparison, Scott will explore the crucial elements that differentiate parks built for competitive sports, recreational #rafting, and family-friendly outdoor adventures—all while maintaining Olympic standards. This presentation will provide valuable insights into our innovative user-centric design approach, which not only enhances the slalom experience but also supports freestyle, swiftwater rescue training, instructional use, surfing, and more. Scott will address critical areas of opportunity, such as increasing participation among underrepresented groups like women, building strong partnerships with sponsors and manufacturers, and leveraging design to integrate multi-sport events.
