Former Dean Phil Bailey (second from left) visited a recent Bailey College Ambassadors meeting to talk about the beginning of the Ambassadors in 1999. For more than a quarter century, the Ambassadors have represented the college, serving to promote Learn by Doing and to encourage strong relationships between faculty, staff and students. Ambassadors also serve as links to alumni, parents, industry and the local community. Dr. Bailey -- for whom the college was recently named along with his late wife Tina (former Chemistry Department chair) -- showed the students pictures of the group's first year and some of events over the past 25 years. He was their inaugural advisor and remained so until the current dean, Dean Wendt (aka Dean Dean), took over. Congrats Ambassadors on your amazing service to Cal Poly and the Bailey College, with many more great years to come! California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly) #learnbydoing

关于我们
Cal Poly's Bailey College of Science and Mathematics is where science, mathematics, the art of teaching and California's Central Coast intersect. Learn by Doing The university's Learn by Doing philosophy means our students can work with their professors on everything from laser mapping of ocean floors to atomic particle colliders to statistical analysis for real-world research projects. Close Relationships The key difference offered by our college is the relationships we build. The Cal Poly College of Science and Mathematics offers a small family atmosphere at the heart of a large, nationally known and selective university. Here, our students have an educational experience like no other. We care about our students, and we take pride in their success. Small Classes Our small classes and labs are all taught by faculty — faculty committed to serving as mentors and creating a close environment. Our college developed the 25-35 study program to help our students excel academically. Majors We offer degrees in the sciences of biology, chemistry, kinesiology, and physics as well as mathematics and statistics. We're also home to the university's undergraduate Liberal Studies program for future teachers, and Cal Poly's post-baccalaureate School of Education. The connections in our college are creating a new generation of teachers and administrators with an edge in science, technology, and math as well as languages and the arts.

"Always remember that you belong" were the inspiring and encouraging words of Cal Poly Provost Cynthia Jackson-Elmoore to attendees Friday, Jan. 24, at the Conference for Undergraduate Women and Gender Minorities (CU*iP). The Physics Department hosted the regional APS (American Physics Society) event last weekend from Friday through Sunday where undergrads found mentors, explored education and career opportunities, and networked with and learned from fellow students. CU*iP encourages and supports women, gender-diverse individuals and underrepresented identities in physics. The conference was made possible by generous sponsors and supporters! *Conference photos by Alexis Kovacevic *Provost Jackson-Elmoore speech photo by Eileen Vavra
