Nov. 20 was full of participating on panels for Deloitte’s "Sustainable Infrastructure: Building #Sustainable and Resilient Urban Spaces" and for the United Nations' Ministerial Meeting on Urbanization and #ClimateChange! Dir. Assefa and acting Executive Director of State Planning and Policy Development, Abby Edwards are two of six California representatives participating in COP29. Delegates from more than 190 countries are in Baku, Azerbaijan this week for the?29th Annual United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) which runs through Nov. 22. ??

#StormPrep The National Weather Service is forecasting excessive rain and flooding threats in Northern California. Areas throughout the state are being asked to prepare for prolonged heavy rain from an atmospheric river that is expected to result in rainfall totals of 12 to 16” over far northern California and far southwest Oregon into Friday. Dangerous flash flooding, rockslides, and debris flows are likely.

The California Youth Empowerment Act (AB-46) was established to address the growing need to engage youth directly with policymakers. This act creates the California Youth Empowerment Commission, consisting of 13 voting commissioners aged 14 to 25, appointed by the Governor and other state officials.

What a day for international collaboration at #COP29! Our LCI Director, @SamuelAssefa had a day packed with opening remarks at a United Nations discussion on “Getting Down to Business: How Subject Matter Experts Can Drive Investments and Innovation for Climate Adaptation,” and he and Acting Executive Director of State Planning and Policy Development, @AbbyEdwards also sat on a panel discussion on “Innovative Approaches to Advance Sustainable Development at the Food-Climate-Nexus.” Both LCI executives met with international representatives from Kenya, from the Gambian region, and many more! “California is, and will continue to be, a model for the world when it comes to our efforts to address climate change head-on. I am honored to be in this space and share insights from our experiences on green transitions across various sectors, including transportation, agriculture, energy, and manufacturing.” Director Samuel Assefa Dir.
