#HappyThanksgiving! Today we celebrate our family, friends, and community. We also pause to reflect on all that we have to be grateful for including California’s spirit of volunteerism as many will spend their day giving back to their community. We also recognize our Indigenous community and their contributions to California and our Nation. We at LCI and California Strategic Growth Council are committed to the spirit of gratitude, inclusivity, and fellowship. Have a joyous holiday. From our family to yours. #Thankful #Gratitude #Blessings #Thanksgiving

Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation Developing long-range state goals and policies to address the state
关于我们
Effective July 1, 2024: the Governor’s Office of Planning and Research was renamed the Governor’s Office of Land Use and Climate Innovation (LCI). The Office is spurred into action by California's promise of enduring environmental and equity leadership, coupled with the realization that progress is not occurring at the necessary speed and scale. We strive to shift from exploitative economies, built environments, and policies to ones that are beneficial to all people and the planet, requiring transformative changes across all systems. Our mandate is clear: to accelerate innovation and implementation that supports thriving people and communities here in California – and beyond.

? In this week of giving thanks, we at LCI are #grateful for the opportunity to participate in #COP29 and the work it accomplished. The United Nations’ 29th Annual #ClimateChange Conference of the Parties (COP29) brought together delegates from more than 190 countries to negotiate international agreements to collectively work to lower greenhouse gas (#GHG) emissions, build more resilient communities, and finance #climate action. #COP29Azerbaijan ? LCI was able to send two delegates to the Conference. Our LCI Director, Samuel Assefa, who is also the Chair of the California Strategic Growth Council, and acting Executive Director of State Planning and Policy Development, Abby Edwards. ? Join us in congratulating the Lake County Community Risk Reduction Authority (RRA) for securing a $175,000 grant from LCI’s Forest Sector Market Development Grant Program! This award will help Lake County reform their RRA to more effectively address local challenges associated with #biomass removal, transportation, and utilization. This effort aligns with Lake County’s ongoing #ClimateAdaptation planning efforts as an Adaptation Planning Grant Program grantee, further demonstrating the county’s commitment to enhancing #ClimateResilience and addressing the ever-growing challenges of biomass management and climate adaptation across the region. ?? The Forest Sector Market Development Grant Program funded five pilot projects to develop regional strategies to establish reliable access to forest biomass through a variety of feedstock aggregation mechanisms and organizational innovations. The program emphasizes prioritizing investments in projects that demonstrate innovative approaches in planning that could be replicated in other jurisdictions across the state. The pilots are located in the Central Sierra, the Lake Tahoe Basin, the Shasta and Lassen County region, the North Coast, and Marin County. We are excited to see Lake County lead the way for communities throughout the North Coast to build #climate and economic resilience against wildfires. ? ??
