This is a big one! Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) is launching Tap2Ride on April 1st for all buses and paratransit vehicles. ?? ? As the articles says, this "purges the fumble for wallets, coins or paper tickets." ?? ?? ?? The new system includes built in benefits (50% off) for seniors over 65, veterans, and people with disabilities or Medicare cardholders, AND fare capping. Just tap and go! Phase 2, which will launch later in 2025, will allow for transfers between buses and light rail with contactless payments. Big thanks to our partners at California Department of Technology. https://lnkd.in/gBx4ugsh

Cal-ITP makes travel planning and payments simpler and more cost-effective for California transit providers and riders.
关于我们
Since forming in 2018, Cal-ITP has been bringing industry standards to California’s transit providers and the broader public transportation universe. In California alone, there are hundreds of public transit providers—with no single system for collecting fares, verifying eligibility for fare discounts, or providing up-to-date vehicle arrival information to riders. This lack of uniformity creates barriers for new riders, complicates travel across different systems, and increases expenses for individual providers. Supported by the California State Transportation Agency (CalSTA) and the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) through a grant from the California Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program (TIRCP), the California Integrated Travel Project (Cal-ITP) is a statewide solution to make travel simpler and cost-effective for everyone.

The work continues. ?? ?? ?? After we helped launch MSAs for #transit #payments, some of the smaller and rural transit agencies asked us to broaden our support to include other technologies. Ask and you shall receive! We're excited to share our Report on Transit Technology Ecosystem. This document examines the #transittechnology market for APCs, CAD/AVL, TSP, CMS, and non-cellular connectivity. In it, we identify adoption challenges for small and rural transit agencies and offer recommendations to create a more modular, scalable, and competitive market in California. https://lnkd.in/gg-z6QnY

? Gas Stations: EASY ? EV Charging Stations: COULD BE EASIER If you open up your mapping app, you can see where gas stations are and what they charge per gallon. And, needless to say, you can pay for that gas any way you like. But #EV stations are not quite so simple. They don't always show up on mapping apps, nor do their prices, and once you get there you may have to download a specific app just to use it. We'd like to make this easier. That's why we created the EV Payments Transparency Report (LINK ?? ). Whether you're a gov't agency working with EV charging, a charging company, a #payment network, or a #wayfinding provider, this is the good stuff. The report is the product of a nationwide EV driver survey conducted with Plug In America, industry interviews with leading companies in the space, and wide-reaching analysis of regulations from around the world. https://lnkd.in/gdY6QXN4

From a rider's perspective, contactless payment on transit is simple. You tap and - beep! ? - you've paid. But from the agency's perspective it can be a LOT more complicated. That's why we're proud to announce we just published the Cal-ITP Guide to Payment Processing. It's a comprehensive guide to help transit agencies implement contactless payments with a payment processor, equipping them with the knowledge and tools for a seamless transition to the user-friendly world of contactless payments. Helpful highlights include explainers on: Contracting processes ?? Breakdown of the expected fees ?? The role of being a Merchant of Record ?? Step-by-step guide to implementation ?? (and a LOT more technical stuff agencies will need to know!) Questions on the guide? We're always available to help at?[email protected] https://lnkd.in/gvJziD6Y

We are thrilled to inspire and collaborate with #transportation agencies throughout the country when it comes to making #transit user-friendly, and this is a great example: Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority in St. Petersburg, FL has won a U.S. Department of Transportation SMART grant to support their work in online identity verification! As we've said in the past, NOBODY likes bringing numerous ID forms to a government office in order to prove qualifications for a program. It's stressful and time-consuming. Once PSTA's work is done, their riders will be able to verify their ID and qualify for discounted fares online in the snap of a finger. Congrats!
