To grow fast, do more. This is the most misunderstood paradox of productivity. But as Cal Newport explains in Slow Productivity, it's the complete opposite. These are his 3 steps to becoming exceptional at what you do. Do less. As a culture, we want more. More speed More content More dopamine But more doesn't mean better. It means more distraction. Doing less forces you to determine what is actually important? If you could only do one thing today, what would it be? The Illusion of Time Social media warps our perception of time. But in reality, things take time to build. It took us 4 years and 420 videos to hit 1 million subscribers. Change the definition of success. It's not about who gets there first, but who stays in the game longest. Obsess over quality. Surround yourself with like-minded people who share your goals. Look outside your niche for new perspectives. Invest in yourself and your craft. Your commitment and love of the game will set you apart. Most think about productivity as getting as much done as fast as possible. But if you want to succeed in the current digital economy... to earn more with your mind... Studying and learning are NOT the same thing. Just because you spend 8 hours studying... It does not mean you achieved 8 hours of learning. Studying is the physical action we do. - reading a book - taking notes - solving problems Learning is the cognitive process in our brain - memory formation - building knowledge schema - aha moments Learning is a result of studying. Fix the way you study, and the learning will take care of itself.

Did you know you can tell how well someone understands something just by looking at their notes? Research reveals 5 stages of note-taking mastery, from novice to expert. But most people never reach level 3...leaving a LOT of learning up to chance. Let's change that. I recommend taking nonlinear and visual notes. - mindmaps - concept maps - diagrams There is more flexibility to express your ideas and extend your thinking. It makes learning memorable. However, this is X. So I'll demonstrate this concept using text-based notes. Level 1 "Digital Marketing is advertising online." Notes here lack depth or clarity. They are vague, over-simplified, and possibly inaccurate. Don’t worry, you can only go up from me. Level 2 "Digital Marketing involves Social Media." Notes are accurate and specific, but isolated facts. It’s usually facts and definitions. And don’t identify the main ideas from details. Level 3 “Digital Marketing includes social media content, paid ads, SEO, hashtags." Ideas start connecting, but the structure is still weak. You're recognizing important concepts but not fully understanding their relationships. Level 4 "Digital marketing uses social media and paid ads to engage audiences. SEO and hashtags increase content visibility." There's a clear understanding of how components work together. Level 5 At level 5, notes are simplified methodology. For example, @AlexHormozi $100 Leads framework. Concepts are so deeply understood, they can be applied to many situations. Innovators and industry leaders take notes at level 5. They are immersed in their craft and have used what they’ve learned to solve complex problems for people. This is how you can use note-taking to increase your earnings. Moving from level 1 to 5 takes time and a lot of practice. But as you take notes, reflect on how you think. - what questions come up while learning? - where does your mind wander? - how do you think through ideas? Do this daily, and you will move to level 5. For a deep dive into how to do this practically, I created this video here https://lnkd.in/gbDBY4MP

There's an idea I can't stop thinking about.. Why is it that 2 people can: - attend the same school - study the same subjects - use the same learning strategies yet have a completely different experience? It comes down to your unique brain. Your brain type determines your mood, motivation, and behaviors. This is coded into our DNA. Part of our unique neurochemistry and biology. And it might be the most important thing to understand to learn faster and enjoy the process. Some people are frustrated easily. Some feel anxious Others feel an overwhelming sense of hopelessness. Some people sleep through the night after a Celsius. I struggle to sleep even after a 12-hour day But this is what people misunderstand... They copy what other people do, then feel bad when it doesn't work out. I can drink Hailey Bieber smoothies, but it doesn't mean I'll get her flawless skin. I can workout like @KingJames, but doesn't mean I'll play in the NBA. The context is wrong. You need to consider you. Understand how your unique brain works. Learn about youOS. - What works for you? - How do you respond to things? - What do you feel when you learn? It's not about just building a system. It has to be a personalized system. One that adapts with who you are. So how do identify your brain type? We simplified it and created a 2-minute quiz. It's a self-reflection tool that matches you into 1 of 3 brain types so you can build a better future for yourself. https://lnkd.in/g9PMzrTb
