Surveillance shows a man lighting bottle rockets, but no damage occurred. Mankato Islamic Center leaders say police are downplaying the incident and not classifying it as a hate crime. CAIR-MN urges law enforcement to take all threats seriously.

"Thankfully, this incident caused no significant damage, but it sends a strong threat to the community, leaving many in the Muslim community feeling vulnerable," said Jaylani Hussein, CAIR-MN Executive Director. CAIR-MN advocates for increased state funding and legislation to improve security at places of worship across Minnesota.
