Deetken Impact is honored to be featured in 'Green Horizons: Unlocking the Potential of Climate Finance in Central America 2024', a comprehensive report from Plataforma de Inversión de Impacto Centroamericana (PiiC), Dalberg, WWF, and ADA asbl, spotlighting the urgent need to expand climate finance in Central America. This report reveals the stark climate finance gap in the region—a gap that must be closed to safeguard vulnerable communities and ecosystems against increasingly severe climate impacts. While Central America contributes minimally to global emissions, it is disproportionately affected by climate change, making adaptation investments especially critical. Current financial flows are estimated to fall short by three to four times the projected need, underscoring a pressing call to action for increased catalytic capital and concessional funding. Highlighted as a pioneer in private-sector climate adaptation efforts, Deetken Impact’s $2.2 million investment in El Salvador’s clean energy sector through the Ilu Women’s Empowerment Fund, in partnership with Pro Mujer, supports the Ahuachapán Solar project, advancing renewable energy generation and gender equity. As the report details, investment flows are concentrated in countries like Costa Rica and Honduras, yet more equitable distribution is essential to support the entire region effectively.
