The day after the presidential election, Julie Products Inc., Winx Health (formerly known as Stix), Cadence OTC, and Hey Jane saw a shift. Customers were buying emergency contraceptive pills in bulk, at rates that far surpassed the prior week, or even the prior month. It wasn't entirely unexpected, says Winx Health (formerly known as Stix) co-founder Cynthia Plotch, who says her brand prepared for both potential election outcomes. Winx had seen surges before, especially around legal decisions that restricted reproductive healthcare; after the 2022 Dobbs?v.?Jackson?Women’s Health Organization Supreme Court decision, Winx sold out of its morning-after pill, Restart, in 48 hours. All this is to say that women-led sexual health brands have been well-prepared to meet this moment—and to continue educating customers on their options going forward: the emergency contraceptive pill remains legal in all 50 states, does not require ID to purchase, and is not the abortion pill. Excited to share that our first brand sponsorship with All Things Go Music Festival (DC and NY) was a success! ?? We gave out 1200 Morning After Pills to 500-1,000 attendees who visited our booth, where we discussed emergency contraceptives and heard a wide range of personal stories. From those well-informed about the differences between the abortion pill and the Morning After Pill to others who were unaware of the latter, the conversations were invaluable. In addition to our booth, we sold trendy bucket hats and baseball hats, and gave out free glow-in-the-dark tattoos to boost brand awareness. Our informational campaign expanded with impactful ads in bathrooms across both DC and NY, highlighting our mission, sharing startling statistics on contraceptives and pregnancies in America, and informed the public that Morning After Pill is now available at convenience stores nationwide. Additionally, our top-performing digital ad was displayed on the main stage’s screens.
