According to World Hunger Statistics, 785 million people across the globe do not have enough food to sustain a healthy lifestyle. Robust regional food systems are key to enhancing environmental nutritional health as well as decreasing food insecurity in the community. OpenEye, Cadence Molecular Sciences in Santa Fe launched the Northern New Mexico Foodshed Initiative to increase access to local food by strengthening producer supply chains across the Southwestern United States and connecting our employees directly to farmers, producers, and food-waste services. Since 2022, the employee-led working group has dedicated time and charitable contributions to our non-profit partners in the area, distributing fresh food from urban trees and gardens to people underserved by conventional food systems.
