Equity, opportunity, access, and self-determination for older adults
关于我们
The California Commission on Aging serves as the principal advocacy body for older Californians and as a catalyst for change that supports and celebrates Californians as they age. The Commission’s work on behalf of older adults reflects the values of equity and inclusion; autonomy, choice, and access; respect and integrity; collaboration and partnership. The California Commission on Aging advises the Governor and Legislature, along with state, federal, and local agencies on programs and services that affect older adults. The Commission works closely with public, nonprofit, and private-sector partners to address emerging challenges and opportunities. Established in the Older Californians Act, the Commission is comprised of 25 appointees representing the state’s racial, ethnic, and geographic diversity. Members of the Commission are consumers and providers of aging services, as well as researchers and academicians from the field of aging. Commissioners are volunteers who serve up to two three-year terms, appointed by the Governor, the Speaker of the Assembly, and the Senate Rules Committee.

Here’s a great overview of the state’s Community Care Preservation program which helps to preserve existing residential adult and senior care facilities by awarding operating subsidies to cover potential or projected operating deficits. The program has not received any additional funding in the Governor’s proposed 25-26 budget. This video was produced by San Diego County. https://lnkd.in/gmgeH7B8

Calling your attention to the table, "Health Care and Nutrition Assistance Programs Benefit Millions of Californians Across Congressional Districts" in this article. Type your representative's name in to quickly access data for your congressional district. Use district-specific numbers in your advocacy to support Medi-care (Medi-Cal), CalFresh, and other federally funded benefits!
Republican federal budget proposals would pave the way for deep and harmful cuts that would take health coverage, nutrition assistance, and other essentials away from millions of Californians who are already struggling to make ends meet in the face of persistently high inflation and the high cost of living. These cuts would increase poverty and hardship, widen race and ethnic inequities, and make it harder for workers to maintain their jobs in exchange for funding huge tax giveaways for the wealthy. Our latest publication breaks down how many residents in each of California’s congressional districts rely on these vital programs, highlighting the far-reaching consequences of these proposed cuts. Help us spread the word — share it with your networks. #FederalPolicy #Budget #PolicyMatters
