Equity, opportunity, access, and self-determination for older adults
关于我们
The California Commission on Aging serves as the principal advocacy body for older Californians and as a catalyst for change that supports and celebrates Californians as they age. The Commission’s work on behalf of older adults reflects the values of equity and inclusion; autonomy, choice, and access; respect and integrity; collaboration and partnership. The California Commission on Aging advises the Governor and Legislature, along with state, federal, and local agencies on programs and services that affect older adults. The Commission works closely with public, nonprofit, and private-sector partners to address emerging challenges and opportunities. Established in the Older Californians Act, the Commission is comprised of 25 appointees representing the state’s racial, ethnic, and geographic diversity. Members of the Commission are consumers and providers of aging services, as well as researchers and academicians from the field of aging. Commissioners are volunteers who serve up to two three-year terms, appointed by the Governor, the Speaker of the Assembly, and the Senate Rules Committee.
