Today, we had the honor of dedicating the resident room in the Labor & Delivery Unit to a truly remarkable man— Dr. Bruce Ratcliff. Dr. Ratcliff, a retired OB/GYN, has been a beloved part of our hospital’s story for decades. His family’s legacy runs deep—his father delivered the very first baby here at Cabell Huntington Hospital, and his brother, alongside Dr. Werthammer, established our NICU. With the help of his family, we were able to keep today’s dedication a surprise, and it was made even more special as retired labor and delivery nurses and current OB/GYNs came together to celebrate him. From July 1973 to December 2017, Dr. Ratcliff devoted himself to bringing new life into the world and caring for so many families. We are forever grateful for his commitment, compassion, and the lasting impact he’s had on our community. Thank you, Dr. Ratcliff, for your years of service and the legacy you’ve created, which will continue to impact our patients and families for years to come.
