I’m elated to share with y’all that I will be starting my PhD this coming Fall quarter at the #1 public university in the nation and one of the best universities in the world, UCLA. I was admitted to the Gender Studies PhD program at UCLA! #GoBruins #UCLA ????

I had the pleasure of winning 1st place for Undergraduate Oral Humanities and Letters AND Excellence in Research Oral Presentation! The 20th Annual Student Research Conference was an amazing opportunity! Big thank you to my friends and family, Michelle Waiters Martinez , California Pre-Doctoral Program , and my research mentor, Dr. Helen Oesterheld. With that, I would also like to announce that I have been selected to represent CSUDH among 9 other students at the CSU Statewide Research Competition! I am super blessed! I will be presenting my research at in late April, after NCUR.

ALL GLORY TO GOD!!! ?????? This year, I dreamed BIG and wrote out my specific prayers, one of them was to be a presenter at the Western Psychological Association (WPA) 2025 Conference… and GOD DELIVERED!!! The past 18 months have been a #Jobseason, full of tears, battles, and exhaustion. There were days I was completely drained, but I kept holding onto my mantra, "God, You are my joy that strengthens me!" Even when I didn’t feel it, I declared it. Last year, I made the hard decision to leave McNair, to be there for my daughter, and I grieved. But I kept pressing into my faith, trusting that if God truly called me to be a psychologist and pursue a PhD, He would turn my pain into purpose. And He did, opening doors to the California Pre-Doctoral Program and allowing me to continue working with my research mentor. I am BEYOND GRATEFUL!! I’m so incredibly proud of myself and my 8 @CSUFProjectRebound mentees. We went from incarceration to WPA!!! When something is from God, the enemy can't taken it away, no matter how much overtime it puts! Excited for this accomplishment in my life!! Hi everyone! I can't believe that it is finally time for me to move on to graduate school. It felt like just yesterday when I committed to San Francisco State University, where it became my home for the last four years. However, with that said, I am reliving that experience now as I officially commit to Stanford University for my PhD — a place I will proudly call home for the next few years. This wouldn't have been possible without the unwavering support of my mentors, peers, family, and friends. I want to specifically thank my mentors Kai Burrus for pushing me to where I am now, to Lisa Galli for teaching me foundational lab techniques (and for putting up with me daily!), to Wallace Marshall, Annette Chan, Deepa Rajan, Frank Bayliss, and Lily Chen for believing and investing in my success. Additionally, I am grateful to Kenisha A. Puckett, PhD and Frederick R. Santana, MS for their guidance and encouragement throughout this application cycle.
