Congratulations to Cannon Architects for receiving an Honor Award for the Durham Academy Arts and World Languages building at last week's 2025 AIA Triangle Design Excellence Awards! This year's awards jury convened in Toronto, Ontario, and was chaired by Aziza Chaouni, an architect and professor at the University of Toronto. CT Wilson has had the pleasure of completing several projects on Durham Academy’s Middle School Campus in collaboration with Cannon Architects, including the award-winning Arts and Languages building. We are thrilled to see Cannon's thoughtful and dedicated work receive such well-deserved recognition. With over seven decades of commercial construction experience in North Carolina, CT Wilson understands the incredible work that goes into each design. Yesterday, 100% of sales from all Triangle-location Jersey Mike's Subs were donated to support the UNC Health Fitch Family Comprehensive Pediatric Rehabilitation Program. CT Wilson employees were encouraged to visit and enjoy a sub for a good cause. To enhance the impact of the donations, CT Wilson committed to contributing $15 for every employee who dined at a Triangle location yesterday. Fitch Lumber & Hardware Co., a supplier for CT Wilson, is operated by David Fitch in Carrboro, NC. In 2022, David's son, Lee, was struck by a vehicle while riding his bike, resulting in several fractures to his ribs, back, and skull. Although Lee's life was saved at UNC Children's Pediatric Intensive Care, the family was disheartened to find that the hospital lacked a comprehensive pediatric rehabilitation center. Since the accident, the Fitch family has been collaborating with UNC Health to develop a pediatric rehabilitation program based in the Triangle area. Last week, Business Development Director, Taylor Butler, attended the North Carolina Economic Development Association 2025 Spring Conference in Pinehurst, NC. The week was filled with networking and learning from state officials, business leaders, and technical experts about the key components of North Carolina's economic development landscape. Thank you to all panelists and speakers including NC Governer Josh Stein. In 2020, NCEDA established the NCEDA Foundation to advance the Economic Development Profession. At the conference, the Foundation hosted a silent auction with proceeds benefitting professional development activities, research, outreach, and education programs, especially to underserved, distressed, and rural counties and economic developers across North Carolina. CT Wilson donated a North Carolina Zoo "experience" to be auctioned off, including a one-year family membership to the NC Zoo, 6 one-day admission passes, and three plush toys from the NC Zoo Gift Shop.
