Thank you Jillian L Fusco, SHRM-CP and Ashley Gockstetter for sharing your insights. Let’s keep the ripples going!
In this episode of “At Your Convenience,” CSP Senior Editor Hannah (Prokop) Hammond talks to Jillian L Fusco, SHRM-CP, human resources business partner at Global Partners LP, and Ashley Gockstetter, vice president, customer experience at Love's Travel Stops, at the C-Store Women’s Event. The three talk about their learnings from the CSW power teams, which were groups of CSW attendees who worked throughout 2024 to solve a problem that women in leadership face. Fusco and Gockstetter shared how their companies invest in leadership development and how they’ve taken CSW learnings back to their convenience-store chains. The C-Store Women conference #2024 is in the books and it was even better than last year (still not sure how that's possible). Over 400 women, and a select group of male allies, descended on Charleston, SC for two and a half days of insightful sessions, networking, new connections and a chance to catch up with old colleagues. We heard from Leading NOW about the #Missing33% that often hold women back in the desire for career advancement and from my dear friend Terri Micklin who brought the house down with her keynote general session about perseverance and paying it forward. I was able to share a few of my thoughts as part of two panels; one with Hannah (Prokop) Hammond, Ashley Gockstetter, and Jillian L Fusco, SHRM-CP and the other with Julia Lazzara, Kristen Hjelm, MBA, and Deborah Shelton. One of the key parts of #CSW is the creation of #PowerTeams - groups of leaders from various backgrounds and companies who will work together for the next year on large-scale challenges impacting the industry and female leaders. This is a commitment everyone who attends makes to each other and it creates a deeper understanding of these topics and lasting connections for all of us. I am honored to serve on the Board of Directors and help the incredible team at Informa Connect Foodservice craft this event. Led by Amanda Buehner and Carol Valora, CMP the entire conference - from setting to content - is flawless and deeply respectful of the leaders that attend. I would be remiss if I didn't pause to thanks the sponsors that make events like this possible including our Founding Sponsors McLane Company, Inc., The Coca-Cola Company, Keurig Dr Pepper Inc., and Altria. Finally, my deepest thanks to Wawa, Inc. for continuing to invest in development. I was honored to share this event with my peer Amanda Wynne who runs our markets in DC, DE, MD and WV. Until Next Year...

What an amazing experience to get to speak to our next generation women leaders across the industry. Thank you to CSP Daily News and GetGo Café + Market and all of our peer companies, vendors and suppliers for driving growth opportunities and fostering learning and development.
With the goal of actively progressing in her career, Terri Micklin, president of?GetGo Café + Market convenience stores vowed to continuously learn. At first, it was tactical and more about understanding the process of her specific role, she said. Later, it was about learning the processes of the business. Educating herself on the business is part of what led?Micklin?up the ladder to where she is today.
