C-CRETS was created for underrepresented employees seeking transformative career advice and support

关于我们

C-CRETS is a platform for underrepresented employees seeking transformative career advice and support. We are building a family – a supportive and connected network – who are trying to breakthrough and get their appropriate seat at the table. Whether you tune in weekly to hear our podcast, read our blogs for our latest insights, enroll in one of our online courses, or invest in personal coaching – we have gems to offer to support your career journey. We have been fortunate enough to make it to the top rungs of the corporate ladder – a place where very few underrepresented employees get to see. We are tired of seeing people held back because of their race or ethnicity, their gender, their sexual orientation, etc. We also understand that many of us are rarely being held back because of technical ability – it is those secrets that few have heard about or even knew exist. C-CRETS is about bringing that knowledge from the darkness to the light.

Founder & CEO at McKissack & McKissack | Founder & Chair of AEC Unites

As we recognize Women in Construction Week, I have to honor the woman who has inspired me the most: my mother Leatrice McKissack. When my father took ill (the same week my twin sister and I graduated from Howard), she was faced with the decision to sell the firm or take it over. She chose to take it over, and served as President and CEO for 17 years. She was a homemaker with degrees in math and psychology, but she wasn’t an outsider to the business. As a gourmet cook, she had been entertaining my father’s clients for years, so they knew and trusted her. Building on those relationships, she continued to win new business, ultimately overseeing $300 million in design and construction work. Along the way, she racked up several awards and distinctions: - U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Female Entrepreneur of the Year Award (1990) - Presidential Design Award (1994) - U.S. Small Business Administration’s Small Business of the Year Award (1990) - Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of Minority Business Enterprises’ Business Woman of the Year Award (1988 and 1990) One thing she taught me is that, although this is a male-dominated industry, I shouldn’t try to imitate men. Back in those days, as women were pushing boundaries in business, many of us thought we had to “act like men” to gain respect. But she taught us to be ourselves. She didn’t have a playbook for navigating this industry, but she had strong instincts. And they served her well. Thank you, Mom, for paving the way for me, my sisters, and so many others. #WomenInConstruction #construction #entrpreneur

C-CRETS Village, join us in honoring the 60th anniversary of Bloody Sunday—March 7, 1965. We extend our deepest gratitude to the civil rights leaders who risked their safety and endured violence to secure voting rights for Black Americans. A special salute to the late John Lewis for his unwavering leadership in this historic fight for justice.??

"Vista Equity Partners Chairman and CEO Robert F. Smith believes diversity will be overcome.? ? As previously mentioned, diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts are being dismantled, causing a ripple effect across various sectors. The White House issued executive orders to end all DEI practices in the federal workforce and in federal contracting and spending. This resulted in federal employees in DEI roles being placed on paid leave. In a conversation with Fortune, Robert F. Smith, the second richest Black man in America, explains what he believes the real issue is regarding DEI. He states that 340.1 million people reside in the United States and argues against excluding certain groups. This also applies to the 63% of white women who held DEI leadership roles. "Carla Ann Harris is warning you not to accept a job that is below market value. ?? Why? The @morgan.stanley exec fears you may never catch up to your worth. ?? And if they bring up your current salary? Irrelevant. You should be paid for the value you’ll bring, not where you started. What’s your best negotiation tip? Share in the comments.
