Last week in San Diego, C-BEN convened nursing education experts to build bridges from one nursing credential to the next with an integrated, stackable competency-based pathway. The group, consisting of C-BEN’s own Charla Long and Sara Beth Hoffman; Nell Ard, PhD, RN, CNE, ANEF; Donna Meyer CEO Emeritus of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing; Jamie Robinson, Associate Director for Undergraduate Programs and Associate Professor at the School of Nursing, James Madison University; and Bridgett Byrd Sellars, PhD, RN, CNE, FACHE, NE-BC, CEO of Dr. Sellars Educate, defined competencies and performance indicators for CCMA/CMA or CNA to LPN/LVN, to RN (Associate), and on to RN (Bachelor). These pathways, underpinned by AACN (American Association of Critical-Care Nurses)’s Essentials, provide a clear and structured roadmap for nursing professionals to advance their careers seamlessly. The outcomes of this workgroup will not only support workforce development but also address critical healthcare needs by ensuring nurses are well-prepared for each stage of their professional journey. Celebrating Merced College’s CBS Feature: AgTEC Curriculum Success This week, CBS Evening News’ Eye on America?featured the efforts of Merced College and the?F3 Initiative?across California’s Central Valley to develop an innovative, flexible, bilingual Spanish-English competency-based program in agricultural systems for farmworkers. C-BEN is proud to have worked with a coalition of community colleges in the Central Valley, including Merced, to develop the curriculum and learning experiences from start to finish.
