Ever since our founding by the brothers Clemens and August in 1841, C&A has been at the forefront of fashion. From making 'ready-to-wear' a thing when custom-made was the norm, to popularising miniskirts in the 60s, introducing the Com-bi-kini in the 70s, Bio Cotton in early 2000 and the first Cradle-to-Cradle Gold certified garment (www.c-a.com/c2c) in 2017 - we have always evolved with the times, making stylish and quality clothes possible for everyone. And while C&A and the world around us has changed over the decades, one thing has remained the same: our dedication to offering sustainable and quality fashion for the entire family.     Our 2023 sustainability report is out now! The report outlines our continued efforts to reduce environmental impact and promote sustainability within the fashion industry. We are focusing on what we make, how it’s made, and ensure it benefits not only our customers but also the people in the value chain. This approach is rooted in #sustainability, #circularity, and #responsibility, ensuring that every step of the process aligns with the company’s values. A strong dedication to equity, inclusion, and human rights remains at the core of C&A’s journey towards a more sustainable future. Key achievements from our sustainability report 2023 at a glance: ?? 80% of core materials are sourced more sustainably. Core materials are cotton, polyester and regenerated cellulosic fibers, which account for 89% of our materials. ?? Reduction of single-use plastic by 36% against the baseline, showcasing C&A's commitment to reducing waste. ?? 80% of electricity purchased for own operations (C&A stores, distribution centers and C&A head offices) is from renewable sources, against 55% in 2022. And we remain committed to our ongoing efforts to achieve meaningful and lasting positive impact across our value chain, with renewed goals reflecting our long-standing commitment to progress and innovation.     ??? #StrongerTogether: Did you know that Breast Cancer is the most diagnosed cancer among women affecting 2.3 million women worldwide every year? To educate & inspire others & amplify the voices of women who are facing breast cancer, we are again partnering with Cristina Inés Gill and Michèle Müller. In informative videos, they both share their ongoing journeys, discuss the misconceptions attached to breast cancer, reflect on how they keep a positive mind and highlight the importance of self-examination. And they let us know, what everyone can do to become an ally and compassionately support people living with breast cancer. Did you know? For five consecutive years we have been using C&As platforms to help raising awareness about the most common cancer among women and the importance of self-examination for early detection – not only during October, the official #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth, but at all times: ???We provide guidelines for our co-workers on how to act mindfully and become a supporter in the everyday and on the shopfloor, ???we organize intimate styling sessions in C&A stores all over Europe where individuals affected by breast cancer receive personalized advice from expert stylists and makeup artists aiming to enhance comfort and confidence, ???we spread the word on how to self-examine across social media platforms, ???we now also offer our post-mastectomy bra all year around. It comes in two styles which are both made of high quality, soft materials, provide comfort and support all day and have inner pockets for medical prosthesis.     Allyship in our company is about taking personal responsibility for fostering an inclusive C&A. But what does it really involve? How do we actively contribute to a culture of equity and inclusion, and what specific actions define an ally? Being an ally means supporting people from underrepresented groups or those facing exclusion due to who they are or what they have experienced. C&A as a company, and each one as individual, has a responsibility. “I think standing against discrimination of minoritized groups is not enough, because even when we aren’t deliberately discriminating others, not intervening can be just as damaging. Instead, we aim to actively include everyone because each of us has a role to play. Ultimately, it's about advocating for respect, kindness, and, essentially, humanity,” explains our Equity & Inclusion Specialist Andreea Conciu-Ruse. And we can do a lot to sensitize our co-workers, to help create awareness and open conversations. One example for this is our Breast Cancer Awareness engagement. ??? October is the official Breast Cancer Awareness month. At C&A we have been raising awareness in the past years through our own platforms and collaborations. Breast Cancer is the most diagnosed cancer among women. And about 70 % of our co-workers are women. Many of our customers are women. That is why we want to help create awareness for early detection on the one hand, and also sensitize for the topic, open conversations, and connect people on the other. “There is still a lot of stigma attached to breast cancer, such as shame, false assumptions, things we don’t talk about. Through our daily work, we strive to offer new perspectives, raise awareness, and bring forward educational resources to contribute to an inclusive C&A – where everyone can become their best self.” ???     ?? The first of its kind: Floor made of denim textile waste from our own C&A denim factory in Germany ?? In line with our ongoing adaption to customer’s needs, we have right-sized, fully modernized and recently re-opened our store in Vienna Mariahilfer Strasse, where we are introducing the new “denim floor” for the first time: For each square meter about one kilogram of cutting residue from C&A’s Factory for Innovation in Textile (FIT) has been recycled. The Swiss family enterprise LICO developed the award-winning solution. Volker Dick, heading up the Center of Excellence for Store Concept Experience at C&A: “You may think: It’s just a floor – but this product is an innovative answer to a huge challenge in the fashion industry. And it perfectly shows that stylish and affordable solutions are not contradictory to caring for the planet. For driving innovation, collaboration with other change making companies is super important. As such we are very excited to be the first player in the industry that introduces this new material. We are looking forward to discovering further opportunities and learn from this pilot.” #LookGood #FeelGood #DoGood

    Walking through shopping streets – what makes you stop and enter a store? And when you are in – how are you walking through the store, find inspiration or a place for a short rest? ?? ??? That’s what our #VisualExperience team focuses on. “We want to make sure that our customers get inspired and recognize C&A’s signature look & feel at first glance, no matter what store they enter. But store sizes are not identical and customer needs vary, too! So, depending on the size and location of a store, we need to match the concept to our customers’ needs. It’s a super creative job! Our teams love #fashion, #design, and aesthetics”, explains Filip Palus, Visual Experience Coordinator in Czechia, Poland and Slovakia. ??? Bringing the C&A collection to life! Our Visual Merchandising Team looks at the stores through the eyes of our customers aiming for the best shopping experience. They create inspirational moments with great looks, defined color concepts, help guide customers through the store, provide relevant information (from promotions to product details) and make sure the lightning supports the overall impression. “With trend analysis we make sure to keep an appealing and up-to-date look”, Filip further explains. ??? #LookGood #FeelGood #DoGood

    Times change, fashion changes – good quality for a fair price remains ? For 183 years C&A has been part of consumers' daily life. In our recent autumn campaigns, we are depicting the candid moments of the everyday, highlighting the ? special ? in the ordinary. Now look at the advertisements from the 1920s to the 1980s – can you see some similarities? The connection to the everyday of our customers is at the core of our brand: “No matter what’s the weather or what’s the occasion, we want our customers to find stylish and affordable pieces,“ explains our Concept & Innovation Design Lead, Reinhard Brodel. With the current “heritage” collection we are also revisiting classics of the past and giving them a current twist. “With a wide range of cozy knitwear styles, checked blazers in green, brown and beige we are remembering the past while living in the present moments.” ??
