This week we had an amazing opportunity to meet with our representatives on the Hill! We discussed a wide range of issues which included; 1. Fully funding water infrastructure programs at authorized amount in the IIJA (Infrastructure Investment & Jobs Act) ?? 2. Clean Water / Drinking Water SRF programs ?? 3. Expanding the use of Pell grants for short-term credential training programs. Pass the Bipartisan Worforce PELL Act H.R. 6585 ?? Advocating for our industry needs is a must! The main purpose of a manhole is to perform inspection, cleaning, and removal of any obstruction present in the sewage line. We install these structures at various locations in a pipeline depending on roadway curvature and design. During the construction of a new sewer system it is import to protect the existing infrastructure from anything that may enter upstream from the connection point. In this photo you will see a picture of a 21” Debris Trap we made to protect an active sewer system in a new manhole we constructed. It is important to consider what is sent downstream as it will eventually make its way to the water reclamation plant and have to be processed. It’s our responsibility to protect our waterways and make sure that no unwanted debris, trash or other types of materials make it through our systems. Caliche is a Naturally Occuring Substance which can be found in the South West part of the United States. Typically, this cementous material forms in dryer / warmer climates and can create rock conglomerate layers or shelfs. Constructing and excavating in this material requires the use of specialized equipment. In this photo you will see the use of a Hydraulic Rock Wheel Attachement. This is the perfect application to remove Caliche at the very bottom of a Trenchline.
