We started out in 1983 as a group of friends with limited carpentry experience, no business experience, and — our most impressive credential — charter subscriptions to Fine Homebuilding. Nearly four decades later, we’re much more experienced and sophisticated. At Byggmeister, our design process is all about bringing clients’ visions to life in ways that meet their needs. For a recent project, this meant installing a Sheila Maid drying rack at the laundry nook - a ceiling-mounted, pulley-operated rack that can be raised or lowered as needed. It's not only handy but also brings a touch of vintage charm to the space.

Kicking off a project in #Arlington, Francis is up on the roof, prepping to take down not one but two chimneys... and just like that, they're gone the next day! We take down chimneys a LOT. Once atmospherically vented heating and hot water systems are removed, the chimney often becomes just a big gap in your home's envelope. Occasionally, some clients with fireplaces prefer to keep their chimneys for the rare times they light fires, but most, like the owner of this house, are eager to eliminate the thermal liability and reclaim the space previously occupied by the chimney.
