Last week, the Montana Consortium for Urban Indian Health, alongside our Executive Board who also serve as Executive Directors for each of the Urban Indian Clinics in Montana, convened at the National Council of Urban Indian Health Conference in DC. It was an invaluable opportunity where we actively participated in federal listening sessions and received updates from esteemed partners like Veterans Affairs Secretary Denis McDonough and Kitty Marx from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. Through engaging breakout sessions, we delved into crucial topics such as FQHC Prospective Payment System Rate negotiations and Diabetes Management strategies.
Our discussions with Senator Tester, Senator Daines, and Representative Zinke underscored our commitment to advocating for Urban Indian needs in our state. We emphasized the importance of addressing healthcare disparities and ensuring equitable access to quality services for Urban Indian populations through 100% Federal Medical Assistance Percentage (100% FMAP). By collaborating with policymakers, we aim to raise awareness and garner support for initiatives that address the unique healthcare challenges faced by our communities. Together, we're determined to drive positive change and enhance healthcare accessibility, ultimately striving for healthier and stronger Urban Indian communities across Montana.
