Criticism Is Not Constructive! The Business Of Empathy Beth Taylor, MA, BCC “I will build you up! Then tear you down!” In the business arena, there are still OLD, ANTIQUATED terms that are contradictory and outdated, and their continued use is difficult to comprehend. The term "Constructive Criticism" for instance, combines an encouraging and positive adjective with a noun that communicates disapproval. Ergo: Mixed messages! Confused employees! Instead, phrases that align with the intent of building and guiding employees are much more effective! Here's a revised take on the concept: Positive Reinforcement: "Let's focus on what's working well and how we can leverage those strengths." This approach empowers leaders to highlight what employees are doing right, reinforcing positive behavior and outcomes, which aligns with the goal of fostering a nurturing and productive work environment. Feedback: Offering insights that reinforce good practices and suggest improvements. Direction: Providing clear guidance on how to continue performing effectively. Teaching: Sharing knowledge and skills that contribute to professional growth. Instruction: Giving detailed steps to refine and enhance work processes. By focusing on these aspects, leaders will cultivate a culture of continuous improvement and happiness among employees, steering the company towards success with supportive leadership! Chad Gono I’d love your thoughts on this terminology and concept of constructive criticism. Don Griffis ? Cleta Ehrhart ? Nathan Robinson you can consider this for work and parenting! What is your take on the strategy of “constructive criticism”? #executiveleadership #coachingculture

Intentional Leadership is more important than ever before. Brad Egeberg has taken the reins and blazed a trail of exceptional leadership!
Shout out to Brad Egeberg Blueprint! Dealing with employees money can’t be easy. Money is a touchy subject! But Brad builds trust so quickly and easily with his warm smile and welcoming demeanor. He always makes himself available to explain complex transactions in a way anyone can grasp, even me! Thank you Brad Egeberg for your amazing leadership and kudos to the rest of the Ops team, Eileen Gehring and Eleanor Reidy! #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipcoaching

I asked Brad Egeberg to what he attributes his success: “Communication is key. People seem to praise my response time to emails/calls/texts, so I’d say that’s one of my biggest secrets to success. Life moves quickly, especially in business, so I try my best to ensure people don’t have to wait long for a response when they rely on my input (without rushing or causing sloppy outputs). It might be a basic answer, but I truly believe efficient communication adds meaningful value to an organization.” Blueprint
Congratulations to Brad Egeberg! From Blueprint : Accomplished Leader and Influencer! I met Brad in 2020 when I was engaged by Blueprint as the company’s executive coach. All I can say is that Brad's journey to leadership is a tale of remarkable growth and determination! When I first started executive coaching with the Blueprint team, Brad had just stepped into the role of Head of Finance. Despite his youth and reserved nature, he was truly a beacon of brilliance. Tasked with steering the financial helm, he shouldered the weight of critical financial decisions affecting over 40 employees—from payroll to reimbursements. It was a daunting task for someone relatively young in the field. Yet, Brad embraced every obstacle with unwavering resolve. He diligently tackled each goal, transforming his perceived weaknesses into opportunities for growth. Together, we honed his strengths, charting a course for his success. Today, Brad has not only fulfilled the demands of his role but has transcended them. His willingness to confront uncomfortable challenges speaks volumes of his dynamic character. Brad’s story is a testament to the power of resilience and the boundless potential of dedicated leadership - creating a leadership legacy for years to come. Kudos to Ben Firestone for being a CEO and Leader who offers opportunities for emerging leaders to grow! #leadershipdevelopment #leadershipcoaching

Imagine recapturing time lost from interruptions at work, phone calls, texts and emails! #timesaving
TANGIBLE TIME SAVING TIPS (That really work!!) 1. Scheduling Schedule, Schedule, Schedule! Scheduling is a superpower. Whether it’s phone calls, meetings, or brainstorming sessions, having a structured plan ensures efficiency Why? Because spontaneity often leads to chaos. When you schedule a call, it allows everyone involved to prepare mentally and allocate their focus. No more unexpected interruptions! 2. Avoid Drive-By Conversations! A “drive-by” conversation can feel like a hit-and-run. These impromptu chats can leave both parties bewildered. Solution: Politely decline or defer conversations that pop up unexpectedly. Instead, say, “Let’s schedule a time to discuss this further.” It’s respectful and ensures meaningful communication. 3. Brain Break Between Calls: Executives often leap from one call to another, like acrobats on a tightrope. But this isn’t a circus act—it’s your workday! Why Pause Matters: Our brains need breathing room. Give yourself at least a few minutes between calls. Stretch, hydrate, or simply stare out the window. Your productivity and sanity will thank you. Bonus: Use that gap to jot down key takeaways from the previous call. It’s like mental decluttering. 4. The 11 Million Bits Conundrum! Our brains are bombarded with information—11 million bits per second, to be precise. But guess what? We can only process about 40 bits at a time. INTENTION: be intentional about how you spend your time in advance, including the amount of time you need for spontaneous, unexpected interruptions. 5. KEEP A LIST! Start recording the number of interruptions you encounter each day for a week. At the end of the week. Multiply that by 23 minutes and 15 seconds how much time got away? Chad Gono how do you manage unexpected interruptions? Maurilio Amorim do you notice when your time is escaping? Michael Segal how do you keep interruptions from extending your day?
