The U.S. recently tested its missile defense system to counter hypersonic threats. In a joint effort, the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) and U.S. Navy conducted Flight Test Other-40 (FTX-40), also known as Stellar Banshee. The USS Pinckney (DDG 91) successfully detected, tracked, and simulated an engagement of a maneuvering hypersonic target using the latest Aegis Combat System and Sea-Based Terminal (SBT) Increment 3 capability. This test marked a key step in advancing U.S. defenses against hypersonic weapons. The data collected will help improve tracking and interception capabilities.
