Business Oregon Finance Manager Blair Sundell recently attended a strategic planning meeting with the Oregon Banker’s Association Lending Committee. The group discussed how to modify Business Oregon’s loan guarantee program to leverage SSBCI funding, increase our speed to market, build partnerships with the SBA and CDCs to encourage SBA 504 production, and mitigate construction lending risk and exposure.

Business Oregon staff had an amazing time at the Oregon Networking Event funded by the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance (PNAA). There were more than 60 attendees at the event, including service providers, manufacturers, and metal shops. Business Oregon and MEDP - McMinnville Economic Development Partnership worked together to plan this wonderful networking opportunity, and Business Oregon Global Trade Specialist Alexa Byers spoke at the event. While most other states see declines, Oregon posts fastest growth in new businesses in 2023. New data shoes new payroll establishments in Oregon grew at an 11.5% rate, #1 in the U.S. Oregon added around 21,100 new private payroll establishments in 2023, up from 18,950 new establishments in 2022. The over-the-year change in new establishments was 11.5%. The only other states besides Oregon to post an increase in new establishments in 2023 were Colorado (+9.7%) and West Virginia (+3.8%). This event is Australia’s largest defense industry exhibition and is the premier platform for interaction between defense, industry, and government of all levels to meet, do business and discuss the opportunities and challenges facing the global land defense markets.
