  • Prior to spring break, we collaborated with FilmBiz to hear from Northeastern and BU students about their professional experiences in the entertainment industry. Emily Recchia, Lilian Gray Goldblatt, and Daria Radulescu-Banu shared insights from their time at companies like AMC Networks, Decal, Ralph, and more. Key takeaways: ?? Networking and reputation MATTER.?A negative reputation can limit your opportunities, so focus on building strong connections and a solid reputation ?? Be open to unexpected roles.?Every company is different, so stay open to roles you may not have considered before—you might love it! ?? Start small and stay consistent.?Focus on getting your foot in the door, then grow into roles that align with your interests. ?? Reach out strategically.?Managers and associates at agencies and firms are more likely to respond and might even set up a meeting! We can’t wait for the second half of the semester!

  • This February, BOE hosted two exciting events: Lights, Camera, Careers and Game Night! First, Lights, Camera, Careers provided members with the tools to build stronger resumes, portfolios, and professional networks in the entertainment industry. Our Director of Career Development, Alexis Mathew, shared valuable resources, including portfolio templates and job postings for summer internships and co-ops. Members also had the opportunity to receive personalized resume feedback in small group sessions led by our e-board. Later in the month, we brought our community together for BOE Game Night! Members put their entertainment knowledge to the test with games like Name That Tune and Movie Taboo, making for a fun and interactive evening. With even more exciting events on the horizon, stay tuned to our socials and Slack channel for the latest updates!

  • January was full of exciting firsts for BOE! We kicked off with our largest turnout yet at our Info Session, where we connected with members and played a round of BOE Bingo. We also hosted our first workshop of the semester, Brand the Beat! Our Co-Directors of Community Engagement, Julia Cabezas and Riya Singh, led an insightful session on branding for music artists. Members then put their creativity to test by rebranding Ed Sheeran. We loved seeing the diverse ideas—from a Noah Kahan-inspired aesthetic with flannel and nature themes to simplifying his brand back to Sheeran with just his guitar. January was a tremendous success, and we can't wait for what's ahead for the rest of February! Next, we’re teaming up with Boston University’s Film Biz for a special screening of Mickey 17 next week, followed by an Internship & Co-op Panel in the two weeks. Stay tuned—there’s so much more to come!
