As a “jack of all trades,” Fred has been invaluable to Burritt’s mission, contributing over 8,000 hours in the past 18 years. Reflecting on his Burritt journey, Fred shared, “Burritt became special to us from the start, thanks to his wife Leslie’s childhood memories of the place and her connection as the recently retired CEO. With her encouragement, I began volunteering, transforming Burritt into a top destination through projects on the Preservation & Building Committee. Taking on the trail system was especially meaningful, blending Burritt’s natural beauty with accessible paths for our community. We are thrilled to announce that Burritt on the Mountain has been awarded a grant from the Little Drummer Girl Fund at the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville! This marks the first year of discretionary grantmaking from the fund, which aims to teach future generations the importance of community support through both philanthropy and volunteering. We’re incredibly grateful for this opportunity to continue serving our community!
