Veterans are 57.9% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than civilians. Despite making up just 1.9% of the U.S. population, accounting for 3% of all new cancer diagnoses each year in VA clinics. This staggering disparity highlights the urgent need for better research, early screenings, and comprehensive care for those exposed to toxic hazards during service. We must demand continued action to ensure veterans get the healthcare they’ve earned. Join us in the fight. BurnPits360.org

Veterans make up only 1.9% of the U.S. population, yet they account for 3% of all invasive new cancer diagnoses in VA clinics each year. If cancer rates among Veterans matched the general population, we’d expect around 33,774 new cases—but instead, we see 53,327. This stark difference highlights the urgent need for expanded research, screenings, and care for Veterans exposed to toxic substances during service. The fight for accountability and better healthcare continues. This is specifically for VA reported cases. This does not include any veteran that is diagnosed outside of the VA healthcare system. At Burn Pits 360, we are dedicated to ensuring that veterans exposed to burn pits and other toxic exposures receive the care and benefits they have earned. Too many veterans continue to face obstacles in getting diagnosed, accessing VA benefits, and receiving necessary medical care. To change this, we need?real stories and real data—and that’s where you come in.?We are conducting two important surveys to better understand the challenges veterans face in accessing care and benefits: 1???Constrictive Bronchiolitis (CB) Survey?– If you’ve been diagnosed with CB or experienced respiratory issues after deployment, we want to hear about your journey. Your responses will help us identify gaps in diagnosis, VA benefits, and legal or advocacy support.?Survey Link: https://lnkd.in/g4KFAnw7 2???PACT Act Benefits Survey?– Many veterans continue to face challenges in accessing the benefits promised under the PACT Act. Your input will help us identify obstacles and advocate for meaningful changes to ensure the system delivers the support it was intended to provide.?Survey Link: https://lnkd.in/gTsiDiRw These surveys are more than just data collection—they are a way to ensure that veterans’ voices are heard and that real change happens. By sharing your experience, you are helping us advocate for policy improvements, increased access to healthcare, and better outcomes for all veterans affected by toxic exposures. Your participation is completely voluntary and confidential, but your voice is crucial in shaping the future of veteran care. Julie Tomá?ka, PhD, MSPH

?? Important Update for Veterans and their survivors ?? 14 years ago as we began the journey of PACT ACT we never imagined the impact of our efforts. Burn Pits 360 is thrilled to share that Urinary Bladder, Ureter, and Related Genitourinary (GU) Cancers are now officially recognized as presumptive conditions under the PACT Act! This means veterans diagnosed with these cancers no longer have to prove their illness is connected to their service to receive no-cost healthcare and benefits. ?? Effective Date: January 2, 2025 We’re making progress, but there’s more work to be done. If you or a loved one has been impacted, apply or reapply for benefits today by visiting VA.gov or calling 1-800-MYVA411. Together, we continue to fight for justice and healthcare for our veterans. Share this to spread the word! Thank you to Captain Le Roy Torres , John Feal, Tim Jensen, Jon Stewart and all of the advocates who helped make this possible. #BurnPits360 #PACTAct #Veterans #ToxicExposure #VeteransCare #Advocacy

We want to extend our deepest thanks to Rachel Moyal-Smith DrPH, PA-C for inviting Burn Pits 360 to the Harvard Radcliffe Institute Seminar on Veterans’ Health and Toxic Exposures: Right Care Everywhere! It was an honor to have our team join such a distinguished group of leaders and advocates to address the urgent need for better recognition, diagnosis, and treatment of veterans impacted by toxic exposures. Sharing the stories of those we serve, like Amie’s, and discussing actionable solutions to close the gaps in care was an incredible opportunity. Together, we’re committed to ensuring veterans get the right care, everywhere. Thank you, Rachel, for providing a platform to drive this critical conversation forward.
