Our #QGIS AI assistant Kue now creates its own plans for handling problems! This unlocks a whole new world of hard GIS tasks that Kue can help with. When Kue gets a request, the first thing it does is break it down into individual steps it can accomplish. With each step, Kue sees if it was successful, and if it was Kue moves on to the next step and if it wasn't Kue tries to fix whatever went wrong. If you want to try Kue you can download it in QGIS—the first 30 days are free and it's $19/month after that.

Today I delivered my first training session in #GeoAI! The training was also my first cooperation with Geo-ICT Training Center and their fantastic trainer Peter Schols. Thanks for including me as a trainer! Participants from Provincie Groningen dove into the fascinating world of #AI, #LLM, #MachineLearning, and #DeepLearning. They got hands-on with the Geo-SAM plugin for #QGIS, identifying solar panels, boats, cars, parcels, and more in Groningen. I also showcased the Kue plugin by Bunting Labs (YC S22), and together with the participants we tried different prompts for loading data, geoprocessing and visualisation. With the rise of AI, we’re seeing exciting advancements in how spatial data is used to solve real-world problems. One standout example is Kue, an AI-powered assistant for QGIS. Acting like Microsoft Copilot but specifically tailored for QGIS, Kue simplifies complex geospatial processes, making them accessible even for non-experts. I recently had an insightful conversation with Michael Egan, the co-founder of Kue, and I’m excited to see where this journey leads. To explore its potential, I ran a case study using Kue to filter, subset, and visualize data in QGIS. Working with road data from North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, I: 1?? Filtered a layer to include specific attributes (STRKL = A or B, representing motorways and federal highways). 2?? Created a new layer for the filtered data. 3?? Styled the data with categorized colors: blue for A (motorways) and red for B (federal highways). The process was incredibly intuitive, and the results were immediate.
