When Ryan and Lexi set out to transform “Bulletproof Landworks” into the intentional, highly specialized “Bulletproof Pond and Lake,” they knew it wasn’t just a name change — it was a reimagining of their vision. For it to succeed, they needed someone exceptional to fill a role as unique as the dream itself. Someone with consistent leadership, a personality they didn’t yet carry, and a genuine ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Someone passionate about the outdoors, running equipment, technical skills, building processes, and business—someone driven to learn and shape a company’s future. That someone was Jonny Murray. Jonny’s leadership journey didn’t start with us, but it shaped every step of his path. Growing up in the rolling hills of Arkansas, Jonny learned early that hard work wasn’t optional—it was a way forward. Responsibility wasn’t a burden; it was a calling. Leadership, to Jonny, wasn’t about titles; it was about purpose and heart. ?? As a football captain ??, FFA member ??, and student council leader ??, Jonny united people around shared goals. ?? Later, as a flight medic in the military, he mastered leadership under pressure, quick decisions, and calm confidence. ?? These experiences carried over when he became a project manager, but corporate ceilings limited his potential. Then he encountered Bulletproof’s bold vision and saw something special?—a chance to channel his lifelong skills into something meaningful. In just weeks, Jonny left Arkansas and moved to Kansas. (Crazy? Maybe. Worth it? 100%) ?? ?? He dove headfirst into what was then a fledgling startup—just three people building something extraordinary from the ground up. Jonny didn’t aim to “know the job” or get by; he set his sights on MASTERY. ?? Research and development became not just tasks but challenges he thrived on. ?? Now, as an estimator, Jonny focuses on pond and lake repairs, renovations, and dredging. He still wears multiple hats, evolving and pushing boundaries. ???? A standout moment this past year? Nearly missing the birth of his daughter, Bailey (#babyB). ?? Thanks to divine timing and a perfectly planned breakfast, he made it to the hospital just in time. ? Jonny’s faith is central to his journey, believing God has guided him to where he’s meant to be. ?? We couldn’t celebrate Jonny without his incredible wife, Lillie, who uprooted her life to support his leap of faith. Meet Zack—a powerhouse foreman and one of the true backbones of Bulletproof Pond and Lake! ?? **If you stay tuned to read the whole post here you might just smile ??????** : Starting out here as a heavy equipment operator, Zack’s hard work, grit, and leadership quickly earned him the spot as a trusted leader in our field. ?? Zack is the guy you’ll see right in the heart of every project—leading our pond and lake repairs, connecting with clients, partners, collaborating with the team, and giving his absolute best day in and day out. ?? ?? With his easy-going, friendly vibe and stamina that seems SUPERHUMAN ??♂? (seriously, we’re not convinced he ever gets tired), Zack tackles every challenge head-on, especially the tough, messy, and muscle-demanding ones. His work ethic? Hands down one of the best we’ve ever seen. ?? And don’t be fooled by his laid-back nature—in particular, when it comes to games, Zack’s competitive side comes out full force! ?? Whether it’s disc golf, arm wrestling (we’d put high bets on him winning every time!), or even a casual board game, he’s in it to win it… But here’s the twist ??: Zack’s also one of the most generous, kind-hearted, loyal people you’ll ever meet. You’ll have to get to know him to understand this portion. ?? On a related note, Rumor has it he once saved a cat from a burning building… say what?! ???? Born and raised in the backwoods of ?? Arkansas, Zack has a down-to-earth charm that only comes from hard work starting at a young age and growing up surrounded by nature… He’s full of stories that’ll keep you curious—like the time he held a baby alligator ?? (and narrowly avoided a close encounter with a full-grown one)! Plus, he’s pretty much got a wild story for practically EVERY state he’s visited… and many close encounters of life or death situations. So much so, we joke about how Zack must have multiple lives. ??? Bring up topics like cryptocurrency, conspiracies, or deep theories, and you’ll have Zack hooked for hours. ?? He’s a friend to everyone and always ready for a good conversation (just please don’t interrupt him too much when he’s in the zone on a project.. WE’VE GOT WORK TO DO ??). We’re beyond grateful to have Zack on the Bulletproof team. He’s not just a powerhouse in the field; he’s a friend to all of us, a family man at heart, and someone who brings joy, humor, and strength to everything he does. We're completing this specific one without draining the whole pond! ?? This *less* invasive approach lowers disruption, perfectly aligning with the homeowners' values. ? Swale Construction: With a new development next door, we’re adding a swale to divert runoff and prevent silt from sneaking into the pond ?, keeping it clean and clear for years to come. ? ? Pond Expansion: Adding a few thousand square feet for even more room to enjoy. ?? ? Overflow Adjustments: We’re regrading and fine-tuning the overflow system to raise the water level just right. ?? Our team loved transforming this unique piece of land for the Whimley family in ?? Leavenworth, Kansas! This nearly 1-acre fishing pond turned an overgrown, untamed spot into a secluded retreat right in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. With multiple trees preserved, it feels like a slice of the country nestled within the neighborhood—a true little piece of paradise... Plus, just checkout that VIEW right from their patio! ?? In this project, we created natural fish habitats by using the stumps and tree debris from the clearing phase of this construction, giving the future fish a perfect place to thrive. ?? Along the way, our crew discovered an old bridge, which the Whimleys chose to keep, adding that perfect touch of historic Leavenworth charm. It ties the whole project together beautifully, blending a bit of old and new. The Whimleys have since stocked their pond and enjoy their peaceful getaway often.
