Strategic development of up-skilling and re-skilling the construction ecosystem
关于我们
The BuildSkills Academy is a project co-funded by the European Union, designed to help VET centers all across Europe to adapt their offerings more quickly to labour needs, to prepare the workforce for the digital and green transition in occupations of high demand. The project will offer VET centers a modern and digitalised provision of training, which is internationally recognised and certified. Main goal of BuildSkills Academy – create a pan-European framework and scheme for certification and upgrading of knowledge and skills for the so-called “twin” transition (green and digital) with a focus on the construction sector. The project Academy for Transitional Skills in the Built Environment is funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement number: 101104419. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA). ?? Building Skills for a Greener, Digital Future! ???? ? The BuildSkills Academy project is taking crucial steps to transform vocational education and training (VET) in the construction sector. ? ????? Central to this effort is the developed BuildEnrichedSkills Methodology (BESM), which helps VET providers enhance their courses. Through a structured approach, BESM aims to support VET providers in evaluating current course content, identifying gaps in key skills, and offering best practices to update training materials, teaching and assessment methods. This will ensure that the VET system aligns with the evolving demands of the industry and prepares workers for the green and digital challenges ahead. ? ?? Through a series of Roundtable Discussions held across Bulgaria (Cleantech Bulgaria), Cyprus (kykloikodromio), Lithuania (LINPRA - Engineering and Technology Industries Association of Lithuania), Italy (Sistemi Formativi Confindustria), Bosnia and Herzegovina (CETEOR), and Greece (IVEPE-SEV), we brought together experts to validate the BuildEnrichedSkills methodology (BESM), focusing on sustainability and digitalization in construction. ? These discussions have provided valuable insights to refine the methodology. They emphasized the need to update curricula, integrate modern technologies, and foster greater collaboration between industry and education. Key themes included the importance of aligning training programs with green competencies and digital tools, bridging gaps in practical training, and improving the attractiveness of VET pathways, especially for younger generations. The discussions also revealed opportunities to expand the methodology into other sectors like manufacturing, healthcare, IT, and others ensuring a broader, more adaptable approach to training. ?? BuildSkills Academy project partners Circular Berlin played a pivotal role in defining the transitional skills needed for the construction sector. They established criteria for industry reskilling and upskilling by integrating EU and national targets with ESCO's (European Skills, Competences, Qualifications and Occupations) new green and digital skills, knowledge, and competences. One of their key contributions has been the development of the project's first deliverable: a comprehensive list of skills and competences for different occupations and Qualifications Framework (EQF) levels, which will guide the next steps of the project ???? ?? Daniela Raffo, Project Manager at Circular Berlin: Circularity in education is a core principle of our organization, and this project allows us to amplify our impact. Participating in the BuildSkills Academy project presents a significant opportunity to advocate for sustainability and circularity in construction and education to a European audience of policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators. ?? Patrick Teuffel, Professor for Innovation and Sustainability Strategies at SRH Berlin University of Applied Sciences, Expert of the Built Environment team of Circular Berlin: We support the transformation of the built environment in a circular way, and this project will greatly strengthen the knowledge of all stakeholders in the industry. #BuildSkillsAcademy #GreenTransition #DigitalTransformation #VocationalTraining #EUskills
