Worried about speech delays in your child? Here are four proven techniques from pediatric speech language pathologists to encourage language development through play: Self-Talk: Describe your actions out loud during routine tasks. Parallel-Talk: Narrate what your child is doing, keeping it simple and engaging. Reduce Demands: Skip “say __” prompts; model key words instead. Wait it Out: Build anticipation with pauses in interactive games. Simple, slow speech helps little ones learn to communicate. Try these techniques and watch their language skills grow! https://lnkd.in/g-FvnZVc

Let's talk behaviors! Children often use their behavior to communicate different needs, like wanting attention, avoiding something uncomfortable, or trying to get something they want. A BCBA can help figure out why a behavior is happening by looking at the patterns behind it. These behaviors usually fall into a few categories: escaping something they don’t like, getting attention, accessing a desired item, or seeking sensory input. Once we understand the reason behind the behavior, we can decide if an intervention is needed. But remember, kids are just being kids, and not all behaviors need intervention. If you ever have concerns about your child’s behavior, we’re always here to help and talk things through! https://lnkd.in/gg7Uq9_n
