On Thursday, March 20, Building Tomorrow's team was honored to welcome H.E. Hildigunnur (Hilda) Engilbertsdottir, the Uganda Embassy of Iceland's Head of Mission, to observe our work in Mityana District, Central Uganda. During this learning visit, Hilda met with Mityana District Senior Education Officer Reverand Kabanda Kenneth Katusabe, Inspector of Schools Kifampa Hamid, and the Building Tomorrow leadership and field teams to observe our community-powered learning model in action. The visit included observations of two teacher-run Roots to Rise school camps and meetings with the Mityana-based Fellows, Community Education Volunteers, and BT's Mityana Regional Coordinator Dorothy Nandabyamu. The visit allowed Building Tomorrow to share with the Embassy how, through local governments, we create sustainable impact with our Roots to Rise program, as well as some of the first-hand effects BT's methodology has for children and learning outcomes throughout Uganda. Building Tomorrow's Partnerships and Communications Coordinator, Sophia Menyhert, has been named to the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) Next Gen Global Leaders Network class of 2025! USGLC, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit, champions strategic and effective U.S. foreign aid policy. Throughout this year-long program, Sophia is eager to contribute to conversations on the importance of responsible global engagement and bring valuable insights back to support Building Tomorrow’s work to ensure literacy and numeracy for all children.

We’re thrilled that Building Tomorrow’s Chief Education Officer, Whitney Warren, will be joining some of the global education sector’s top leaders at the CIES - Comparative & International Education Society Conference! As an implementer leveraging A/B testing, we’re excited to contribute to this important conversation with Youth Impact on how research can drive meaningful change in education.
