?? Spring is almost here, and we’re thrilled to share an inspiring story ahead of our 12th Annual Spring Benefit Breakfast! ?? Meet Beverly Coy, a young immigrant from Guatemala, whose resilience and determination have shaped a brighter future for herself and her family. Beverly and her two younger brothers embarked on a challenging journey to reunite with their mother in the U.S. Despite the obstacles along the way, Beverly never gave up. Through her hard work and perseverance, Beverly and her brothers achieved permanent residency, opening new opportunities for their dreams to flourish. Today, Beverly is pursuing her goal of becoming a social worker to help families in crisis. Her brother Elvis is excelling in his second year at @[ Cornell University](urn:li:organization:28759940) on a full scholarship, and her youngest brother Darwin is preparing for high school with aspirations of attending college. Beverly’s determination shows the power of courage, hope, and community support in overcoming challenges. ?? ? In 2024, over 1400 participants have benefited from our English Language Learning (ELL) classes, helping them connect, grow, and thrive. ?? National Foreign Language Week, established in 1957 by Alpha Mu Gamma, shines a spotlight on the importance of language learning. This year’s theme celebrates the ability of language to foster deeper connections and cultural understanding. The 2025 poster created by Connecticut's own, Fairfield University University student Sarah Rocha, beautifully captures this idea, reminding us of the transformative power of language, a truth we see in action every day at B1C. Join us as a Food Pantry Volunteer! Support our Connecticut Foodshare Truck by assisting with food distribution and logistics. Volunteers aged 16 and older are encouraged to participate! As a volunteer, you’ll help out with organizing food, handling logistics, and supporting participants during distribution. Shifts are every other Monday from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, starting March 3rd.
