The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) is one of the state’s largest and most influential organizations fighting for the rights of residential home builders, remodelers and associates in Washington state. Chartered in 1950 by the National Association of Home Builders, BIAW represents thousands of member companies statewide in collaboration with our 14 local building associations. BIAW battles 365 days a year on members’ behalf so we can build homes people can afford.

Washington’s impact fees are some of the highest in the country, adding over $18,000 to the cost of a new home! That’s why over 80% of Washington families can’t afford to buy. We’re working to fix this by helping schools pass bonds with a simple majority instead of 60%, so they get the funding they need without charging extremely impact fees. A win for schools, a win for families, and a win for affordable housing! ??

Sen. Pedersen just recognized BIAW’s leadership in tackling Washington’s housing crisis. One major issue? Impact fees. These fees add $18,433 to the price of a home on average—and nearly $30,000 in some areas. They drive up costs, price families out, and slow development. That’s why we’re pushing a grand bargain: allowing school bonds to pass with a simple majority while eliminating school impact fees. More school funding, lower home costs—a win-win for Washington. #WAleg #HousingAffordability #ImpactFees #BuildMoreHomes #WashingtonHousingCrisis #Seattle #Spokane #Tacoma #VancouverWA #Bellevue #Yakima #TriCities #Bellingham #Olympia
