?? Have you met Kate Klein? As Programs and Communication Coordinator at BuildGreenCT, she plays a pivotal role in raising awareness of the building sector’s impact on Connecticut’s greenhouse gas emissions. She curates programming, educates members on green building techniques, and helps drive sustainable solutions forward. Kate's journey into sustainability started as a recent college graduate looking for ways to expand her environmental activism—and BuildGreenCT provided the perfect opportunity! Now, she’s stepping into advocacy work, and getting hands-on with policy initiatives through the Advocacy & Equity Committee. [Feel free to join her!?https://lnkd.in/eS_M_zJj] Beyond her work, Kate has some pretty unique hobbies—she’s a lampwork glass blower ?? and has even spent time tagging horseshoe crabs ?? on the Connecticut shoreline! As we head into the 2025 legislative session, continue advocating for policies that promote sustainability, resilience, and equitable growth. Two bills—HB Bill No. 6925, An Act Concerning the Establishment of the Connecticut Home Energy Label and a Training Program for Energy Efficiency Auditors, and HB Bill No. 6926, An Act Concerning Funding for the Residential Energy Preparation Services Program—stands as pivotal steps toward creating a greener, more energy-efficient future for our communities. These bills focus on enhancing energy efficiency standards, improving residential energy services, and providing the training and tools necessary to reduce energy consumption across Connecticut. Change happens at the policy level, and supporting these bills is crucial to driving long-term impact in sustainable housing and energy initiatives. Advocacy plays a vital role in pushing these important policies forward—every voice counts in urging our legislators to take action. Let’s stay hopeful, proactive, and focused on making these vital changes a reality for Connecticut. Let’s continue to champion sustainable solutions! ???
