Do you have a hard time letting go? I mean those times when you think to yourself, it’d be faster if I did it myself? OR you find yourself explaining to someone how to do something and you go back in and do some ‘fixing’ and do it yourself anyway? It’s the little micromanager in you. Sometimes, you have to let go of the controls. I know it can be scary. There’s value in giving instructions. There’s also value in walking someone through it in the way THEY need to process it. If you find that you’re getting the glossed-over look when explaining things, ever think it might be YOU, and not THEM? Think about it. Taking time to give context, explain, and sometimes reposition how you explain things takes patience. In the long run, you’re: Developing talent Building relationships Trusting them to learn Trusting yourself to trust I help managers understand and zoom back out for situations like this. Looking for a little grace and patience? Let’s talk. #leadershiplessons #grace #patience #employeeretention #betterculture

  • I’m on a #transparency binge (if you hadn’t noticed). I suppose that’s better than binging on chocolates leftover from Valentine’s… (not saying I’m not doing that as well). Here’s a stat you should look at. 86% of employees surveyed in Deloitte’s 2024 Global Human Capital Trends research say that the more transparent the organization is, the greater the workforce trust. In fact, they point to the fact that this TRUST trend is the most important trend they reported on. How do you achieve #trust? As our old EF Hutton commercial used to say, you EARN it. Need a guide to get you there? That’s what I help companies with - changing up the mindset of their managers to foster strong connections and engagement aimed at retaining your top talent. Let’s schedule that free consultation today. #leadership #managementtraining #themanagementchallenge #deloitte

  • How much do you share? Too little or too much? You hear this phrase “#transparency” and wonder what it all means. Do you have to share everything? What elements do you focus on? Yet another aspect of leading people we need to pay attention to. Being frank with your employees takes some practice. It’s not just sharing facts, it includes balancing tact with the right amount of information, in the right dose. Testing out how it sounds in front of a mirror sounds weird, but it can help find the right cadence for you and your team. What's your biggest internal struggle with these conversations? Need a sounding board? Reach out. #leadership #growthmindset #servantleadership

  • Ever hear of Occam’s razor? You have if you’ve watched Big Bang Theory (great show). The concept falls into our laps when we need it most. Here’s a paraphrased version - “When considering multiple possibilities, the simplest explanation is the most likely to be correct” For leaders who struggle with “why did they do that?” or “why didn’t they see this?” scenarios, this is often a great way to stop, drop, and roll into the potential outcomes, vs. heading into the rabbit hole of frustration (sometimes anger). The fact is, you’ve made similar mistakes in your past too - maybe not that one, but something similar. Oftentimes, it’s easier to have a conversation to clarify things. It’s an opportunity for you to practice NOT going rogue, and owning how you potentially could have interpreted something vs. finding out the perspective of someone else. Better here, than when something more serious occurs. Think of it as practice for your future self. Need help with other challenges? Let’s talk. I help managers grow their leadership skills in areas like this to Build Better Culture in their teams and organization. #leadershiplessons #occamsrazor #patience #activelistening

  • How do our managers make decisions when things aren’t clear? The tough calls are when decisions ride on a fence and both sides are blurry. How do you prepare for these situations? Are your managers prepared? You hire for their ability to make decisions, but the factors are not always clear cut. Have you encountered this and had to stumble through it? What if you had a way to better prepare them? What would THAT look like? Would you sleep better? Would they? #Leadership Development programs and coaching help your managers work with their strengths, and develop their gaps so they’re better prepared for the unknown. We talk about “what if” and “what would happen” in addition to revisiting decisions from the past. I help develop managers into leaders - whether that’s YOU or a group of managers who want to up their game so they can be better leaders for their teams. That creates better engagement, productivity and retention. What would THAT look and feel like for your business? Call me. #managertraining #upskill #leadershipdevelopment #betterculture #employeeretention

  • When you hire new people, or are training a new skill, do you ask where your people are at (call it a pretest maybe)? Meeting people where they’re at helps bridge the divide of disconnects. Stop the assumptions that someone SHOULD know something, and just ask. How are you with saving files in shared folders? How do you adapt to learning new software? How do you best learn new material? We talk about creating a support structure to make our employees successful - or set them up for success. This is a great place to start so that your team knows you’re listening and care about their learning and development. Next question. Do you do this for managers? One of the most common pitfalls is that managers just know (osmosis perhaps?) how to manage and what to do. Did you ask questions like, “describe scenarios where you had to work on performance improvement, or goal setting - what did that sound like?” Let’s drop the assumptions, ask better questions, and meet people where they’re at. I help organizations with developing content and strategy around topics like this. Let’s talk about your challenges - call for a free consult! #leadershipdevelopment #managertraining #betterculture #ask #maps

  • Employee turnover is VERY visible. Your employees see it, and probably know about it before you do. What’s worse, future candidates AND clients see it too. What if it's costing you clients and candidates? When one leaves, you can rationalize it away. When there are multiples, it’s a harder pill to swallow. Why are they leaving? Is there a common thread? Is it something within your control? Two of the biggest reasons people leave are due to company culture (toxicity), and their manager. These aren’t the only reasons, but they’re two that you have control over. Equipping your managers with better skills to actively listen, engage, and develop your employees is work. It’s also something that helps them become more effective, saving you from these high attrition numbers. Interested in learning more? I help organizations solve #leadership and #culture challenges just like this. Let’s schedule time to talk. #leadershipdevelopment #growthmindset #employeeattrition #employeeturnover

  • This is your manager’s plate. It’s full of priorities including dealing with conflict, setting clear priorities, drama, driving process, time/attendance… the list goes on and on. How are they putting more on their plates with things like 1:1s, performance management, training & hiring replacements for the people who just left, and of course, their own self-development? Are you helping your managers know how to navigate these challenges, or do you just expect them to speak up? When you were in their role, did you speak up? Maybe they’re too busy to speak up. Food for thought, if you’ve never had this conversation with your manager(s), now's as good a time as ever to talk about it. I help businesses create thriving cultures through executing leadership training and coaching of their management staff. What could that look like for your group? Let’s grab 30 minutes to talk about it. #leadership #growthmindset #professionaldevelopment #managertraining #pancakes
