Civil Engineering Student | Real Estate Development Passionate | Lean Construction | Supply Chain | Finance in Construction
After seven months as a Project Engineer Intern on the Overland project with Build Group, Inc, my internship has come to an end. I will now return to Monterrey to complete my Civil Engineering degree at Tecnológico de Monterrey. I’d like to share some valuable lessons I’ve learned during this experience: 1??. Managing Subcontractors Requires Patience and Persistence: Achieving quality work isn't just about giving instructions—it's about follow-ups, holding everyone accountable, and sometimes having tough conversations to ensure efficiency and standards are met. 2??. Attention to Detail is Critical: It’s easy to overlook small things when doing QA/QC or reviewing submittals, but these oversights can grow into major issues, delays, and additional costs. Every detail matters when ensuring the smooth progression of a project. 3??. Continuous Learning is Key: Staying curious and being open to learn from everyone is essential in this industry 4??. Tracking and Documentation Are Your Best Allies: Proper documentation ensures accountability, helps with backcharges, and keeps punch lists manageable. Team Sanjib Sah, Ryan M., Danny Mai, Jacob Revay, Cesar Dominguez, and Chris,?I want to thank you for your support and mentorship throughout this journey. I’m truly grateful for the opportunity, and I’d also like to thank Daniela Marin and Jarrod Haering for trusting me with this role. Wishing the team all the best as they close out the project!
