As pre-dental students, we aim to create a space where future dentists feel motivated, understood, and supported on their academic journeys and overall objectives. We aim to empower pre-dental students through our fundraiser and personal journey as students. We strive to make an impact within our communities that will bring individuals together as well as improve the lives of others. By being a part of a community that supports humanity, our donations can improve the well-being of many homeless individuals in Los Angeles. A small gesture significantly changes the lives of people experiencing homelessness, offering them a chance to have a healthier and more stable life. By improving one of the overlooked aspects of health, dental hygiene, our next generation of dentists will better understand oral health and help others. We hope that through our devotion and support, our peers gain the confidence and skills necessary to make our community a better place for all. Our team! Hello! I am Angelica Harutyunyan, and I co-founded this organization with Nadia Jamehdor. I am a psychology major on the pre-dental path. As a psychology major, human behavior and emotions are immensely important to me, which inspired me to create this organization. Furthermore, I am extremely passionate about the dental field and look forward to sharing my excitement with others. My experiences with volunteering at dental offices helped build my passion, and I am excited for the journey ahead! I hope that with our mission, I can help others build resilience and feel supported in this world. Additionally, I enjoy communicating with others and sharing vast ideas, which is why the social aspect of this organization was essential for me to create. This includes articles and engaging social media posts. I aspire that by sharing my story and experiences, I will lend a helping hand to someone who feels alone and overwhelmed in their pre-dental journey. My goal is that through our social media community, we can provide each other with advice and optimism, helping to build up the community of future dentists. Aside from my academic passions, I enjoy watching films, listening to music, building connections with diverse individuals, knitting, and pilates. I hope we all learn about ourselves throughout this journey and achieve the highest success together. My name is Nadia Jamehdor, one of the co-founders of Build A Smile. I am currently a pre-dental student who has a great passion for pursuing dentistry. Choosing this path was suggested by my enjoyment of working with my hands. Playing with arts and crafts was my go-to hobby from a young age, which soon enhanced my skills in hands-on work. One of my favorite hobbies is painting landscapes. Creating unique drawings helps me explore my creativity and expand my imagination. Little did I know that these interests sparked my fascination with the complexity of the dental field! My interest in dentistry has motivated me to support and guide others who need assistance. Helping people in need is not something required from others but rather an act of kindness. We want to continue our nonprofit and hold our goal of making people smile and feel confident in themselves. I look forward to a fun, challenging, and fascinating journey in our nonprofit.
