Move over Chief Budds, there's a new top cop in town! ??♀? Yesterday, Anvika Mallampati, an 8th grader at Woodlawn Middle School, had the honor of serving as the Buffalo Grove Police Dapartment's Chief for a Day. "Chief" Mallampati spent the day with BGPD officers and staff learning more about their jobs, and even had the chance to conduct a mock investigation. ?? New Public Works facility earns Project of the Year honors ?? Last week, Buffalo Grove Public Works was recognized by APWA Chicago Metro Chapter with a Project of the Year Award in the $25-75 million category for their adaptive reuse at 1650 Leider Lane. Over course of two years, this project transformed a vacant warehouse space into a state-of-the art facility which will allow BG Public Works to meet the needs of our growing village for decades to come. Most importantly, the project was delivered on schedule, under budget and at one-half the cost of ground-up construction of a new facility. Congratulations to the Buffalo Grove Fire Department's new Lieutenant, Jay Huh!?? ?? Lieutenant Huh has been with BGFD since 2014. He currently serves the Department as a fire apparatus driver, a member of the BGFD Water Rescue team, and an EMS Committee member helping to train new firefighter/paramedics. Lieutenant Huh is also a United States Marine Corps Veteran, serving from 2006 to 2013. He was administered the oath of office at last night's Village Board meeting by Board of Fire and Police Commissioners Chairman Ed McKee.
