We all do better when we all do better. Sometimes that just means genuine support and praise from coworkers. Samantha Hidalgo was featured on a panel with the Buffalo Urban League Young Professionals for the National Day of Empowerment. Deirdre Wright brought Sam her flowers (but really a balloon) for putting herself out there as a community leader. And for that... we are thankful ??

We stand with our Indigenous relatives in Western New York. Indigenous communities experience health disparities in much of the same fashion as African Americans on the East Side. The struggles might be the same but so does expressions of joy - that is exactly what this flag raising did. Thank you Samantha!
The 2nd annual Haudenosaunee flag raising at Niagara Square in honor of Native American Heritage Month went so well on Friday. It was important to me that we declare our visibility within our broader Western New York community. We are still here ??

So proud of YOU Xavier Drayton - Cohort 3 graduate & AmeriCorps Alum, hired on as Environmental Justice Corps Crew Leader, then certified as Basic Life Support Instructor!! Congrats on leading your first class - OUR COHORT 5 Crew! You lead with humility. You garner respect. You have navigated barriers. You show your peers to focus on what you CAN do, instead of what you CANNOT. Thanks to my colleagues for your unwavering support. Ebony White Samantha Hidalgo

Last month, I had the privilege of sitting on a brilliant panel hosted by The League of Women Voters and members of the Divine 9. I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to focus on how Health Equity is on the ballot in this upcoming election, specifically women’s reproductive health and reproductive freedom as a whole. Remember: Voting is Public Health! ??? #vote #healthequity #reproductivehealth #reproductiverights

From the bottom of our hearts, we want to thank everyone who made this year's Igniting Hope another spectacular event! Our staff, our partners at UB and the Erie County Office of Health Equity, and our number of volunteers made this event a smooth and informative event. The feedback has been incredibly positive! Pencil us in for next September as Igniting Hope will definitely be back for an 8th year!
