For years we’ve been fortunate to have great weather for the Macy’s Parade. The event is outdoors, and famously says that it will happen “rain or shine.” I’d always wondered how it would work out for our guests if we had bad weather. Well, 2024 answered that question for me. This November, it rained on our parade! We have multiple viewing areas along 6th Ave. Most of our guests like to watch from the sidewalk, and the rain didn’t stop our passionate fans from donning a BucketList poncho and staking out a spot close to the parade. However, all of our viewing locations also have windows facing the street, and some of our less hearty guests chose to watch from the comfort of indoors. In reality, it was the best of both worlds. A spot on the sidewalk but also a warm room with a floor to ceiling view. Our post event surveys have come in, and this was our highest rated event of the year! A little rain can’t keep us down…..

We added a new event to our annual calendar and it was truly special. For the first time, we hosted guests at the Army/Navy game. It was a multi-day experience with hotel accommodations, game tickets and local tours. We helped an 88-year old retired Army colonel attend his first Army-Navy game. He told us that tomorrow is the last time he’ll ever board an airplane. Truly a bucket list item for him. We also helped a Vietnam veteran attend. But for him, the game was just a nice bonus. His bucket list item was visiting DC and the Vietnam memorial for the first time. He has 7 friends on that wall who never made it home. What a day. What an honor to be a part of the experience.
