We are excited to reveal that?Joseph Dituri, Ph.D., CDR, USN, a.k.a.?“Dr. Deep Sea”, will be our?Keynote Speaker?for the 2025 Bubbles for Vets Black & White Gala! Commander Joseph Dituri is a retired U.S. Navy officer and biomedical engineer with over 28 years of service. Throughout his career, he specialized in hyperbaric systems, saturation diving, and life support systems for space exploration. He holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering, with research in hyperbaric and hypobaric medicine, and has authored numerous diver-training manuals and articles. In 2023, he set a Guinness World Record by living underwater for 100 days as part of Project Neptune 100, studying the effects of prolonged hyperbaric pressure. Dituri is now the Assistant Vice President for Veteran’s Clinical Research at the University of South Florida, focusing on traumatic brain injury repair and conducting clinical trials. He is also a course director for an accredited hyperbaric training program and serves as an Associate Professor. In 2024, he was awarded the prestigious Kittinger Medal for exploration expertise. Outside of work, he enjoys skydiving, writing, and pursuing his goal of becoming a civilian astronaut. Mark your calendars and join us for a night of celebration, inspiration, and giving back! Bubbles for Vets is a Tampa, Fl. based nonprofit 501(c)(3) dedicated to supporting veterans, first responders, and their families through the transformative power of scuba diving. After completing a mandatory 40-hour online scuba course, our valued participants are brought to Tampa for an immersive four-day, all-expenses paid, scuba training program where they complete their scuba certification, reconnect with the foundation of a family unit, build life-changing skills, foster a positive experience, and create endless shared memories. But we offer more than just a certification—our program includes access to therapy, and counseling services tailored to each family's needs for up to a full year after their experience.
