Celebrating Building STEPS' 25th year and visiting Mindgrub was as exciting as our very first day of programming. Thank you to Todd Marks and his amazing team for participating in the Maryland STEM Festival 2024 and hosting our Baltimore City Public Schools' students. Kayla, a student from Renaissance Academy, shared, 'My favorite part of the day was when we got to learn about the different roles in the company, such as designing, marketing, engineering, and more.' It was an eye-opening, engaging, impactful experience! #stemeducation #technology #robotics

Another unique STEM exploration experience for our high school juniors with the team from the United States Naval Academy's STEM Center For Education and Outreach. Our high school juniors participated in several innovative STEM modules, all set against the inspiring backdrop of Towson University. One module in particular drew rave reviews...exploring the wonders of sound and electromagnetic energy by crafting a paper speaker that brought radio sound to life. We're so proud to welcome De'Mon to Building STEPS as a Student Assistant! A senior at Morgan State University, De'mon is determined to serve and help others. In addition to graduating as an Army National Guard Reservist, he will use his biology degree to launch his career in healthcare. We love when our college students in the University of Maryland's Incentive Awards Program come to a Building STEPS College Workshop to share their college experience and advice with our Baltimore City high school seniors. What a night we had celebrating our fabulous volunteers! Welcome Cohort 25! (Yes, we are 25 years old and celebrating big this year!) What a day we had on the beautiful grounds of Genesee Valley Outdoor Learning Center with our new student cohort! Students engaged in creative, outdoor games through hands-on challenges and creative problem-solving scenarios to encourage teambuilding as we start this new program year.
