BSEF are pleased to confirm our membership of the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Forum #ESPR and are attending the European Commission kick off meeting today and tomorrow. Brominated Flame Retardants #BFRs are critical to ensure the fire safety of products, helping to ensure product longevity, and are well handled at end of life. Melis Arin, of ICL Industrial Products, represented BSEF, at this year's #InternationalElectronicsRecyclingCongress this week in #Salzburg to discuss the future of WEEE recycling. ?? ? The different ways on how Electronic waste including printers, PCBs , batteries etc. when containing Flame Retardants #FRs is handled were presented. ?? ?? ??? ?? ? This week marked a milestone for BSEF in its 27 year long history to serve as a best-in-class case at the 2024 Global TBT Challenge Conference in #Seoul. We thank particularly the TBT Center of South #Korea for this unique recognition of BSEF’s work. Michael H. Secretary General, & joel tenney ICL Industrial Products Director of Global Advocacy and BSEF Chairman of the Board met at this occasion with key stakeholders in South Korea. South #Korea is particularly important to our association due to its role as a major producer of electrical and electronic equipment and large automotive manufacturer. This morning in the European Parliament, executive director, Sharon McGuinness presented the work of the European Chemicals Agency. In her address, she noted 'that chemicals are needed for a clean transition and that a clear and accessible path is needed for chemical companies to do their part.' Last week, I had the pleasure of moderating the BSEF event on the need for Brominated Flame Retardants (#BFRs) in modern society during the European Fire Safety Week #EuFSW ?? Thanks to Francesco Gattiglio, Franklyn Chidalu Okwara & Eric Guillaume for their presentations and furthering the discussion on new challenges and how to maximise escape time! ??♀??? Togehter with over 30 others, including a strong contigent of Irish advocates ??, and my colleague Klaus Rothenbacher, I also had the opportunity to participate in the high-level discussion in the European Parliament on #FireSafety, in which the European Commission confirmed that in 2025 they will invest heavily in research?for closing the?fire safety data?gap! ?? Well done to all those at the European Fire Safety Alliance for an important and well organised week ?? I look forward to continuing to contribute to these efforts!
