?? PSA for TV/ radio producers: Too many political panels feature an all-white group of male experts with one woman or person of color thrown in. This does not reflect the American electorate or people who are actually working in politics. As you're booking guests for upcoming segments on the election, please make sure you're including a diverse group, including women, people of color, and other groups too. "Being an ally to LGBTQIA+ colleagues isn’t too different from being an ally to colleagues of any other identity," says Bryson Gillette's Josefin Dolsten. "It starts with getting to know your coworkers so you can better understand their identities and how those impact their personal and work lives." Read the full Q&A:

"Eating disorders for young people spiked during COVID and are still at an all-time high. And those with atypical anorexia, like me, are often misdiagnosed or dismissed by doctors. This is a serious issue, and schools must be equipped to provide resources to students so we can reverse this dangerous trend." Amplifying stories by people affected by eating disorders and other mental health issues is crucial in breaking down stigmas and raising awareness. So proud to be part of this important work in my current role at?Bryson Gillette.

We have not wavered from our commitment to progress in large part because of the team we have built and the values to which we have remained faithful. Combining more than 20 years of experience in political campaigns and nonprofit advocacy with executive coaching and mindful leadership to bring a new model of leadership development to today's social impact leaders
My time with NDRC officially winds down this month, and I’m embarking on a totally new frontier that I’m super excited about.??The TL;DR is that I am developing a series of ways to connect the incredible benefits of mindfulness and meditation with our nation’s politics, particularly with the amazing people who dedicate their careers to political work.? There is so much to say on this that I’ll be sharing over the next few weeks and months, but this new frontier is driven by three key insights: 1: We cannot heal our politics until we fully support the people who are?in?our politics – the incredible political professionals on the frontlines of doing democracy and saving democracy every day.??It is an entire sector of workers that is being overlooked as a professional industry.??Recognizing this sector of professionals as critical to our democracy, and supporting them accordingly, is a key part of healing our nation's politics. 2: There is?so much research?about the benefits of mindfulness and meditation to both individuals and groups.??For example, it has an undeniable impact on the ability to handle stress, decrease anxiety, increase focus, and improve relationships, just to name a few.??I have seen this first-hand in my own meditation practice.??I have also become a student of meditation mindfulness – taking classes, attending trainings and conferences, consuming volumes of books and podcasts, etc – and there is so much insight that can directly benefit the people working in politics every day. 3: Loads of work is being done to bring these insights into the corporate world, the military, health care and education, but?very little is being done to connect the amazing lessons and benefits of mindfulness meditation with our politics, particularly our political professionals.? That’s why I’m so excited to help bridge this gap and bring these worlds together! So much more to share on all of this, but for now two quick asks -- 1. Are you working in politics (broadly defined) and on your own journey of mindfulness and meditation???If so, I would love to connect! 2. Do you know of any people or groups who are also working on the intersection of mindfulness and politics???If so, I would love to know about them! Thanks for reading this far!??I look forward to many more posts and discussions on these topics.?
