The company’s pitch is that the process is “simple, safe, and easily done in just a few seconds.” It promises that our biometric data is safely encrypted and secured on its centralized systems and that “you can choose to delete your data at any point.” Sure...

Every once in a while, we’ll come across a company with an absolutely wild mission. “That’s incredible,” we’ll think… “But how could it possibly be a successful business?” That’s what most people think when they hear about Colossal Laboratories and Biosciences. The company’s mission is to develop genetic editing technologies for de-extinction. Its primary target is to bring back the woolly mammoth to life.

It was an odd time to make such a major announcement. On Sunday afternoon, President Trump posted on social media his initiative to move forward with establishing a “crypto strategic reserve” for the U.S. government. After all, in President Trump’s executive order issued on January 23, 2025, Strengthening American Leadership in Digital Financial Technology, it was stated clearly that:

Here’s the good news…? No one will be disappointed, unless, of course, you don’t want any robots at all. As if on cue, Amazon (AMZN) just threw its hat into the ring for quantum computing… This morning, the e-commerce and cloud computing giant announced it has designed and manufactured its own quantum computing semiconductor, claiming its new innovative design is the world’s “first realization of a scalable architecture for bosonic error correction.” I couldn’t help but feel similar to how I felt when I read Microsoft’s announcement about its own topological quantum computing semiconductor… also a “world’s first.”? And just like with Microsoft’s Majorana 1, I have my doubts about Amazon’s new chip… Amazon’s Novel Approach Amazon’s new quantum chip is Ocelot – a superconducting quantum semiconductor similar to the approach taken by Alphabet (GOOGL) and Rigetti (RGTI).
