What an incredible day we had at our company summer party at the end of last month! Thank you Biloxi Shuckers Baseball for an amazing time and making everything a breeze. Happy Earth Day! Today, and every day, we celebrate our planet and recommit to protecting its precious resources. Earlier this month, BMA Environmental traveled to Ridgeland, Mississippi to do a soil vapor extraction at a location to verify that chlorinated solvents were not leaching into the groundwater. This was achieved by proving that the Yazoo Formation - a deep ocean clay that exceeds 400' thickness in Ridgeland - outcropped at the surface was an aquitard (restricts flow). The danger of chlorinated solvents percolating down is that they could reach the groundwater, spread offsite, vaporize, and collect in residential spaces. Fortunately for this location, the Yazoo Clay present is known to lock down contamination of this type. BMA was able to provide hand sampling and direct push drilling for this site to show that Yazoo Clay does restrict water flow and that contamination was not present at sampling depth. #EarthDay #bmaengineers #workingtobuildabettergulfcoast
