Gina Uhrbom, Daniel Carlson, and Tracy Borash, recently visited AmTrust in Chicago for an informative Workers’ Compensation training session and team building dinner. We were able to meet with the whole Minnesota team, most of whom we had never had the opportunity to meet face to face before. It was great to get to spend time with everyone on a more personal level and we fully believe an even stronger team dynamic was formed. A big shout out to AmTrust for hosting us in Chicago!

Great teamwork! Attorneys Eric S. Hayes and Kali Russen obtained a victory for their client, a Fortune 500 global manufacturer, in a recent workers’ compensation hearing. While there were several issues, the medical/legal causal connection was key. They successfully argued that just because an injury occurs at work, it doesn’t automatically mean it is work-related. The court agreed. Our team worked closely with the client to gather the key facts, investigate different angles, and craft a compelling argument highlighting the critical distinction between a workplace injury and one that is actually work-related. The team's legal analysis and investigative work were vital in securing this win. The court disregarded the employee’s theories of the injury being work-related. Instead, it focused on key deposition testimony and the opinions of the IME, which most closely aligned with the facts of the case. The win demonstrates that each case needs to be evaluated on its own merits and that working closely with the client to identify defenses is imperative. The court denied all claims in their entirety.
