Lorraine Shim - I'm excited to share a bit about my journey in the philanthropic sector, spanning over two decades across higher education, healthcare, and social services. As the Chief Development Officer at Broward Partnership, I lead our Resource Development team in securing vital funds for homelessness, healthcare, and workforce initiatives. Before joining the Partnership, I served as the Director of Development at Nova Southeastern University. My career path has allowed me to hone my skills in fundraising, prospect management, corporate and foundation relations, and board management. I'm passionate about community involvement and building partnerships to support unfunded programs and services. I serve on the Board of Gilda’s Club South Florida, assisting in their development strategies for their first capital campaign, and I recently joined the board of the Planned Giving Council of Broward. Additionally, I have chaired fundraising events for United Way of Broward and supported numerous other nonprofits in our community. It's an honor to have served on the board of the Association for Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Fort Lauderdale Chapter, where I chaired the Diversity Committee for three years, bringing nonprofits together to discuss important issues in philanthropy and engagement. I earned both my BA and MBA from Nova Southeastern University. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family, and caring for my two dogs.

We had a fantastic time at the Greater Pompano Beach, Margate & Lighthouse Point Chamber of Commerce Nonprofit Advisory Council meeting this month, where we honored August as National Black Business Month and celebrated the incredible Black-owned businesses in our community. A special shoutout to our Board Member, Jean McIntyre! It was wonderful to hear how her involvement with Broward Partnership has made a positive impact on her life. Thank you, Jean, for sharing your inspiring story and for all the support you provide. #NationalBlackBusinessMonth #thewayback #movingforward #browardpartnership

Last Thursday, our team had the privilege of attending the Children's Services Council of Broward County, where our amazing case manager, Cherish Morales, took the stage to present at the Youth and Families Subcommittee of Homeless Continuum of Care. As Vice Chair, Cherish delivered the “Turn the Curve Report,” shedding light on homelessness in Broward County, especially among youth and families. Her insights, backed by data from Broward County Public Schools and the Coordinated Entry team, painted a powerful picture of the challenges many face in finding stable housing. We're so proud of Cherish for her outstanding work and dedication! #thewayback #movingforward #browardpartnership
